While Mark and Terry were being ignorant goofballs, Kiley was busy walking along the coast, keeping their eye on the waves. It wasn't quite warm enough to swim, but it was definitely warm enough for bikinis. That didn't mean Kiley catered to that, though.
Jesse, who had been walking beside them, broke the silence. "So... You mentioned a cabin right? For us to stay in?"
"Yes." Kiley smiled, "Not just for us, but for Jane, Twaine, Mark, Terry- all of us." Jesse pat Kiley on the head. "So... Does that mean we can't...?"
"Don't worry. You and I can share a room. I think Twaine and Jane would like to share, so that leaves Mark and Terry."
Jesse laughed. "Wait- okay, as funny as that is- are you sure they are even going to want to come?" Kiley nodded. "Well duh. It's Terry's birthday surprise, so he has to."
"I don't think that's how it works."
They divulged into silence. For a little, they just walked, side by side, Jesse's arm wrapped around Kiley's waist. It was nice. The pleasant breeze accompanied their gentle walk, making Kiley's ponytail blow towards Jesse. "Hey." Jesse started. "Do you think people think we are dating?"
"Probably."
"Are you okay with that?"
"I don't really care. If I had to be mistaken for dating anyone, I'm happy it was you."
Jesse smiled at that. They were about to float back into silence when they heard "HEY LOSERS" come from behind them.
Predictably so, it was Terry. "Hey!" He called again, catching up to them. "Wait! You guys are abandoning us!" Jesse turned to see the other 3 following closely behind. "You can't just run away from us, Beautiful." Mark added, throwing his arm around Jesse's neck. Jesse smirked. "Why not, Hotty?"
Jane came up and smiled at both Kiley and Jesse. "My laser hearing ability-"
"That doesn't make sense."
"Picked up something about a CABIN?!" Twaine's eyes lit up, while Terry's drooped.
"Yup." Kiley started. "I rented a beach cabin. For all of us! It's my birthday present to Terry!"
"Yay. Because I love outdoors and being disconnected from the internet."
"Exactly."
Jane jumped in, a smile on her face. "Oh yeah! Happy early birthday Terry! The big ONE-SIX!"
Terry cringed. "Yeah. I... I don't really care. I'm just excited to get out of school."
"You still have two years, bud."
Terry stuck his tongue out in disgust. "Don't remind me."
Kiley rolled their eyes. "Terry. Come on. It will be fun." They turned the conversation back on subject.
Mark, his arm still looped around Jesse, poked Kiley. "Yeah, Terrence. Kiley's the smartest here. Listen to them." Kiley smirked at that. They knew it was true, but hearing it from someone else made them pretty happy.
"Ugh." Terry replied. "Fine. I trust your judgment Kile."
Kiley smiled a very genuine smile at Terry. "It will be fun. Promise."
Jesse quickly added to the conversation. "And we all get a room buddy! I get Mx. Kiley, here! Jane and Twaine can hang out-"
The two mentioned high-fived at the news.
"And Mark and Terry get some bonding time!"
Mark smirked. "Kinky." He said. Terry was suddenly uncomfortable. Although this meant he could take creepy stalker pictures of Mark and then leave them in an incredibly obvious place so Mark would be scared. Or flattered. You could never tell with him.
Terry crossed his arms. "Okay. Sounds fun. Who will be cooking?"
Silence erupted the group. After a moment, a chorus of "Not it" filled the silence. Terry was the last one. "Shit." He said. "Welp, prepare to be poisoned."
Jesse laughed. "Should we really let this brat cook? He's not that good."
"Hey!" Terry intervened, "Now I WANT to cook! I'll show you how fantastic my cooking skills are!" It took Terry a moment to realize Jesse was bluffing and that she just wanted to lure him into cooking.
Whatever. He thought. I'll prove them all wrong. Those bastards... They'll all see!
"Wait." Mark interrupted. "What about Caren? Isn't she invited?"
Again, silence.
"F-uck." Kiley pushed out. "I guess she gets the couch."
Terry wanted to join the game. "Then what about Hailey? Brandon? What about Greg and Louis? Bernard?"
Kiley tensed up, then turned slightly red. "I just wanted us to all hang out! We don't need a million people!"
"What if I WANT a million people?" Terry asked.
"Besides," He added, "It IS for my birthday."
