It was cold outside though she always thought it was cold. On this night however she could see her own breath, as she stood in the forest going over battle techniques. She was no warrior but her dad was, so he trained her to be the closest as possible to one. The wooden sword would crack against the different targets she had set up around the field. Faster each time never missing a beat.
"So... that's her," the strange man would mutter to his partner, watching the girl gracefully swinging her sword. "Yes, it is mistress Phoenix", he'd reply, voice trembling. "perfect... and I really am sorry," he'd say, stabbing the servant in the gut with his katana. She'd stop in her tracks hearing a thump in the trees. Brandishing her wooden sword she'd spin in circles, as to not let anyone get the drop on her.
(At the palace)
"Emperor! I have urgent news!" Hikaru yelled, bowing as he rushed into the room. "What is it?" the emperor asked, raising an eyebrow at this unusual way of actions. " The woman that Katsuro has trained for the last few years... she's been... well they found out about her," he'd stammer through the sentence, bowing his head. "bring her! Now!" he had a sense of urgency in his voice, so Hikaru did as he was told.
( The Woods)
Her eyes darted from tree to tree, anticipating whether or not to continue her training. Just as she started back to it a cold blade was pressed to her neck. "Now, now little Missy we mustn't yell and we mustn't refuse, you are coming with me" he'd almost hiss, voice like a snakes only it was beautiful. She'd hold her breath saying a silent prayer to the gods.
Horses feet crashing through the woods could be heard from a distance, her eyes would light up with hope. She had lit lanterns so she could do her training more efficiently so she wouldn't be to hard to find, or at least she hoped she wasn't. In a moment of panic she'd do something potentially stupid. She turned around looking into the eyes of her attacker, the were an odd color a striking green with a terrifying look. His lips would curve into a smile as he leaned in close to her ear, "good bye for now, honey." He was gone seconds later leaving her to collapse to the cold ground, shivering from the cold and fear.
A young man with black hair and brown eyes jumped off his horse. "Are you alright, Miss Phoenix?" he'd ask sincerely, but all she could focus on is how he knew her name. She'd back up running into a tree, spinning around it, and running. The voices of yelling men seemed to grow, then shrink, and then grow again. After barley making it even relatively close to home he caught up to her on his horse, pulling her up by the arm onto the horse and riding off.
(At the palace)
Her eyes would widen at the sight of the palace, looking at the man a slight smile showing through his emotionless face. He'd lead her to a empty corridor and let her choose a room. She ended up choosing the middle, which in her opinion was the safest one. "The emperor would like to see you after you are ready." he'd say, tossing a Pink Kimono with Sakura (Cherry blossems) print at her face.
After getting dressed she'd wonder the many halls of the palace, before the man came and took her to see the emperor.
"Welcome, Miss Himura." the emperor would give me a little smile, as i bow to him I also noticed the mans shock. "I...it can't be he never had childern!" he'd yell, she'd feel her soul fill with sorrow. He really didn't tell anyone I existed, she'd think to herself.
"Something troubling you, my child," the emperor would ask concerned, she'd simply shake her head no. "He had his reasons believe me.. but we have more important matters to discus right now.... did you meet anyone in the forest, my child?" she'd shake her head yes. "what? who?" the man would ask, a little to close for comfort. "I..I... don't know" she'd mumble, looking at the ground, "but he had green eyes which was a little... odd."
Both the emperors and the mans eyes would widen almost instantly.
"Did he carry a katana!" he'd yell in her face, she'd nod yes.
"Hikaru... how could he possibly..?" the emperor would start, before Hikaru interrupts him, "I don't know but I just can't wait to kick my big brothers but again..."
She'd sit there in silence utterly confused.
