Realizing the other dragons inside the chamber, the blue dragon looked at the blood red one and snorted, “ So… Drakko is ready to execute…”
“You know I will be the first one to stand against it, Wissn,” General Kaisser growled, stopping the blue dragon unfinished speech.
Sarvati was startled once again, for a two reasons. The blue dragon blatantly mentioned The Emperor’s name. However, considering he is a cursed criminal, that might be a normal for such foul lizard to disregard any sense of respect in his speech.
The other surprising thing came from Sarvati’s superior. Despite being rather calm, the slight increase in his tone showed how angry he was. The seal runes’ dim lighting was enough to show how emotion flared deep within General Kaisser.
A question rose in Sarvati’s thoughts, are these two closely acquainted with one another?
The notorious seal dragon sighed, “Then, what is it? I couldn’t think of a reason why you and Drakko would unseal me.”
“We... the world needs you,” General Kaisser Smirked as if something funny crossed his mind. “Excluding your foul tongue.”
“The world?” The blue dragon grinned, a rather evil one. “The world needs a cursed dragon like me? So the world is ready to explode like Zahhyun?”
“Zahhyun was an accident, Wissn,” General Kaisser’s tone rose once more. “At least if it were to happen again, you know I will be first the one to stop it, even if I have to stain my hands with the blood of my closest friends.”
The convict sighed once more, he scratched the dry land below him. “Even for Shivvar’s case?”
General Kaissers sharp gaze turned slightly wistful, “I’d rather see myself, ‘a normal dragon’, take the sins rather than seeing my friends become the embodiment of destruction.”
Silence enveloped them, the only sound left was the scratching sound made by the blue dragon. Sarvati was rather confused with the conversation, there was something emotional there, their words seemed meaningful to each other. Something was definitely not as what it looks like. And Shivvar, she never heard of that name before. Not even in the archives.
“So,” the blue one finally break the silence. “What kind of misbegotten favour could the world want from a cursed dragon?”
The general’s massive shoulders were raised as he answered, “long story short, there was this crazy dragon who gathered Namsuh’s power. Then, seven years ago, there was this human hero who took him down. The problem is, now, Namsuh’s power leaked and threatened the world… or so we deduced from anomalies that are happening in the world.”
“Deduced?” The convict grinned. “You can’t even feel them, unlike other dracconid.”
Sarvati was at the edge of barking a curse towards the blue dragon. Mocking the condition of such a gallant and kind general was rather detestable. It was General Kaisser’s loud cackle that stopped her, which in turn surprised her once more. However, she was already on her first step of disliking the convict.
“I should have cut your tongue before you were sealed,” said the general. It was accompanied by a evil grin which surpassed the cursed dragon’s.
“Glad you didn’t,” Vayyu smirked. “Anyway, how could Namsuh’s power leak to the world? Isn’t that so called human hero supposed to seal or cleanse it? I heard the humans were quite zealous about ‘the light’, their ‘hero’ should have been able to do such thing if he really wields the so called light.”
Another spark flared in Sarvati’s heart. The convict’s tone was clearly mocking her dear friend. Rignil never chose to be a hero, he was forced into the role. She saw how the exhaustion of such burden painted on his visage. Yet, this criminal was making a mockery out of it.
“He…” General Kaisser tried to answer, but he stopped midway to glance at Sarvati from the corner of his eyes. “He was cornered,” he continued. “We almost fell to Rahnuc’s might, Rignil as well. I am not sure how, but Rignil managed to stand up again and finally slew Rahnuc. Perhaps that's why he was called as the chosen one.”
The general sighed and finish his explanation, “And before you ask, he sliced off Rahnuc’s head and limbs to finish that embarrassment of a dragon.”
Pain and overwhelming anger stabbed Sarvati’s heart as the criminal’s laughter echoed through the cave. The cursed dragon commented on the explanation with further mockery, “I was wondering, Vaardict. Which was more of an idiot, the dracconid who toyed around with Namsuh’s power or the hero who was foolish enough to slice off that dracconid’s head to kill him!”
“You should hold your outrageous tongue, Wissn,” the general growled. “He saved us, or at least brought us temporary peace.”
“Then I thank him for saving ‘The Great Crimson Meteor’,” the notorious cursed dragon smirked, he opened both his arms wide in clear provocation. “Then why not our great general here ask the hero to do his heroic stuff?”
General Kaisser shook his head, “He vanished.”
“Pfft, coward.”
That one last word from the convict was almost all that was needed to push Sarvati. She could feel heat was rising up on her scales. Her arm was gripping the handle of her blades. It was the mere presence of her superior that held her back.
She couldn’t believe such misbegotten lizard was the one expected to help them in this situation. Such disrespectful being, who mocked those that sacrificed everything to save the world, would never had what it takes to carry on such burden.
That dragon spent the entire time sleeping in a crystal when then world was in peril. And now, he dared to mock them? Sarvati’s thoughts might not be so polite as she questioned how desperate The Emperor and General Kaisser has to be to unleash such detestable creature.
The two male glanced at Sarvati. She just realized how her emotion must have shown clearly through her scales. They burned bright like living flames turning the cave brighter in red.
The cursed convict turned his head back to General Kaisser and asked, “Who is this tiny one, your egg laying partner?”
The red scaled dragon shook his head and chuckled, “My trusted lieutenant, and your observer.”
“Observer?” The blue dragon snorted. “I don’t need an observer.” He glanced degradingly at Sarvati, “At least not someone weak and tiny. That is just the same as running without an observer.”
Sarvati was accustomed to mockery or being underestimated, but there was something in the speech of the blue dragon that rekindles the flame within her. She didn’t care anymore if her scales brightened the cave again. The burning fire within was already on their edges. Enough to turn certain dragon into scorrched lizard, leaving nothing but ashes.
At that point, she would have proven how wrong the insolent lizard was.
“I thought you want to keep you oath, Misbegotten Red,” the criminal snorted at General Kaisser. “Without unleashing one of my seal, I still can break away from this prison. You are the only one capable of stopping me when it is needed.”
“I have to take care a couple of things here,” the general answered as he crossed his arms. “And you better not underestimate The Blazing Fairy.”
“Blazing Fairy?” The cursed convict’s gazed turn to Sarvati again. He smirked, “that explains the tiny body.”
The flame within almost erupted. Sarvati was holding it as long as she could. Her superior’s presence and ever kindness as well as her hope to carry on Rignil’s dream was almost unable to contain it.
“Well,” the seal dragon twisted his wrist a little to roll his chains to his lower arm. “Don’t blame me if your subordinate got battered!” Without further warning, he dashed at Sarvati.
His movement was fast, but Sarvati was ready. In fact, she was waiting for this moment. The time to teach the insolent fool a lesson or two had come. She drew her sword and saber.
