"Hey. Nice catch," Rain said. The mystery boy looked up to see Rain approaching him.
"Be right back," he told his friends, jogging up to Rain. "Twice in one day? I thought I got rid of you at the cafeteria."
"Oh, really? I could've sworn I left you."
The boy chuckled, "For some floozy, who I should thank by the way. Finally got you off my back."
"Yeah, well, I think I found an even cuter one." Rain pointed across the courtyard over to Farrah. "The one with the dark hair. You've got to come see her. I swear she'll make your heart pound."
The boy frowned. Rain just didn't understand. He didn't understand. "Yeah, sure," the boy said, but his thoughts rang out, It will never happen. I'm looking at her now, and nothing's happening. His gaze slid over to the boy sitting beside the girl. He could tell the boy's gaze was on the two of them, him specifically. Rain's friend?
"Come on." Rain motioned for him to follow.
The boy chased after Rain, who was already several feet ahead. He stared at the boy sitting on the wall as he squirmed in his seat, inching closer to Rain's new hit. Is that his friend? Must be. The boy's gaze moved to the other people on the wall; a redhead wrapped around a small blonde, her lanky body clinging to the blonde for life support. He chuckled.
As Rain strolled up to the gang, Charli looked up from her bear hug as her light darkened.
"Hey, didn't expect to see you," she called to the boy, "Let me guess, Rain dragged you over?" He nodded.
"You know it, just to show me her. Again."
Charli laughed, "That's our Rain, always dragging people along on his whims."
"Against their will, just to 'show off',"the boy added. The two laughed as they teased their friend.
"Hey! Don't I do stuff for you guys? Like hearing you out with your problems," Rain said, his eyes signaling Adelah. Charli shifted in her seat. "And, don't I let you copy my notes?" Rain told the boy, who ran his hand through his hair, averting Rain's gaze. Neither could retort.
"Um, Rain? Who's that?" Farrah chimed in, staring the boy down. Great abs, nice and tall, he could do well.
The boy stepped before Farrah, his gaze flicking to Shae. "Nice to meet you. Name's Kylian." Shae shuddered at the honey of his voice, how it came out smooth and silky. He gripped the edge of the wall.
"Shae."
At her best friend's voice, Farrah realized she and Kylian weren't alone. She looked between the two.
For him. Of course, I meant for Shae, Farrah told herself, her hopes a little let down. Farrah faked a smile and said, "Hi, name's Farrah." She scooted over on the wall to free up a seat between her and Shae. "Here, why don't you hang with us."
Kylian glanced at Shae as he stared wide-eyed at Farrah, her words echoing in his mind. Shae peeked over at Kylian, his pulse speeding up at the emerald peering into his soul. He looked away.
For some, unknown reason, Shae's response urged Kylian on. He hopped up next to him, closer than he should be, and smiled at the red of Shae's cheeks.
Show me more... Kylian thought. He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't come up with the words to say.
"So, Kylian," Farrah began, glancing to see Rain hop up next to her. She ignored his presence and asked, "How do you know Charli?"
"Rain introduced her to me," Kylian stated simply, keeping his gaze on Shae.
Farrah noticed this and asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
Shae tried to motion discreetly for her to stop but failed as Kylian replied with his gaze locked onto Shae, "Nope." Shae's chest skipped a beat.
"Really?" he found himself whispering. Kylian nodded. Farrah smiled, sure they would make a great match.
"A boyfriend?" she asked.
"Nope." Shae couldn't help but smile. There was no hatred nor disgust to Kylian's words. He answered simply.
From behind Kylian, Shae saw the mischief twinkling in Farrah's gaze. She gave him a thumbs up. Adelah picked up on Farrah's intentions and pulled away from Charli. She stared at the scene before her, wishing she had popcorn to enjoy this with, as Charli whined to be warmed by her.
"So, Kylian, who's cuter? Me or Shae?" Farrah questioned, leaning in. Kylian looked between the two. His gaze settled on Shae.
"Him." Farrah lit up. Shouldn't she be upset?
"I think so, too! His eyes are gorgeous, aren't they?" Farrah exclaimed.
"Fare, stop--" Shae began.
"They are." Shae stared at Kylian in shock.
Kylian caressed Shae's cheek, right below his right eye, and said, "They're like a cloudless day in summer. Like the purest ocean. Beautiful." Farrah gaped at his words. This was better than she expected. Way better. She watched in anticipation, her pulse shouting her excitement.
Shae shivered at Kylian's sultry voice. I shouldn't. It wouldn't be fair to him. I was just dumped... Shae pulled away from Kylian's gentle touch and averted his gaze, his cheeks bright red.
Show me, Kylian begged, Show me more. He reached out, almost gasping at his racing heart. Why?
Kylian pulled his hand back and leapt down from the ledge. "I'm sorry. I--I gotta go." He hurried towards the parking lot, everyone's eyes on him.
With Kylian too far to see, Rain laughed awkwardly, "Must not be feeling good. I'll go check on him." He chased after his friend, unsure of what just happened. Rain had never heard Kylian say anything about being bisexual.
