a few months later...
"I'm so sorry!" a voice would cry. "you little..." the old man would stomp off mid sentence, leaving Phoenix alone. Hikaru would walk in laughing at her klutziness. "I can't believe you knocked over... every plate.." he'd once again burst out laughing. Phoenix would pout upset at the fact she had made the adviser mad. "hey, hey it's okay.." he'd give his best heart warming smile, ruffling her hair. "stop" she'd have a sense of authority in her voice. "Fine, fine" he'd sigh.
"You've grown so much since we started," he'd laugh to himself. "Oi, I was 20 when you started training me, don't act like you took me in at 10!" she'd say crossly. "yeah, yeah" he'd laugh it off.
flashback...
"I Can't do it!" she'd yell at who she now knew as Hikaru. She was sitting in the grass having fallen from training. "you can, and you will!" he'd yell at her annoyed. She'd stare at the ground pouting, "I'm not meant for this..." He'd grab her chin lifting her face to meet his eyes, "now listen your capable okay, you got this." They'd train for weeks, a few months later however they would be given their first mission : protect the adviser.
end flashback....
She'd stretch her arms out, sighing lightly. Ever since that night in the forest she hasn't been sleeping well, and it was the only thing she hadn't told Hikaru. She was sitting up on her bed on the floor, looking at the door. It was so dark and she hated the dark even before the attack she's hated it, for that was the real reason she lit the lanterns. She laid back down and stared at the ceiling, the old hallway was creaking more then usual tonight. She didn't think a thing of it until she heard the door slowly sliding open.
"Hikaru..? why are you here.." she stopped short when she saw it wasn't Hikaru, but a tall man with bright green eyes. She stumbled back into the wall about to scream, but the man was faster then he appeared and placed a hand over her mouth. "Shh... now honey... didn't I say I would be back for you?" he seamed to stare into her soul with those eyes. She could fear her eyes swell up with tears, then everything went black.
Hikaru pov....
He'd knock on the door to Phoenix's room early morning for their usual training routine. When no answer came he called to her, but still there was silence. Eventually tired of waiting he put his hand over his eyes and slid open the door, but there was still silence. Taking his hand off his eyes he saw an empty room with a red envelope in the middle.
The note red-
Dear, Brother
Seems I have done what I said I would. I took back what is mine and with me she shall stay. You won't find us so don't try. Honestly this was so very easy, maybe you wanted it to happen.
Your beloved brother,
Kage (pronounced ka-gay)
His hands were shaking when he finished the letter. His brother couldn't have won. He ran to the emperors 'throne room' and handed him the letter. The emperor face turned pale, ordering a search party.
In a few weeks she still hadn't been found and the emperor seemed to have given up and instead focused on a possible war. Hikaru just couldn't let this go however. He could feel himself getting closer everyday.
"Hikaru... I am truly sorry but.... you are not permitted to search for the girl anymore." the emperors words hit him so hard he practically stumbled back. "but... I...am so close.." the emperor stopped him, he nodded and walked out.
2 years later...
She had been training with her fiance since almost two years ago. Kage was interesting to say the... most. He was cold and always had a scowl making him unpleasant. Still at times he could be not as vile, sort of. She had stopped hoping for someone to come for her about 5 months after she had been there. She was stronger then every man or woman she came across now however, but she knew she couldn't beat Kage so she didn't try.
This morning seemed different he had a happy buzz about him.
"get ready today we shall go see my dear brother," he hummed. She say nothing just stare at the ground, she knew what this was about. Kage wanted to gloat on their engagement, like he always did. She was considered to be the most beautiful woman in the country, which annoyed her.
She'd sit down on the bed and sharpen her katana. Kage would hum along by me ignoring my sour look. Though when she says buzz or hum she means he seems less like he's going to chop your head off, instead he seemed like he would cut you at any second and maybe leave you alone after. He always had the cold glare however. His hums also sound more like hisses instead of the happy hum we all know and love.
She would walk calmly behind Kage with a cloak of fine silk hiding her katana and face. Kage gave everyone his worst look as he walked by into the palace so they didn't question them at all, which was nice she guessed. We walked into the emperors throne room where she could see Hikaru and the emperor talking. With out thinking she started running towards him but Kage pulled her back against him.
"Hikaru!" she'd scream without thinking,as she was being dragged out by Kage. Last thing she saw was him quickly stand up and the emperor nodding, before just like the night two years ago the world went dark.
