Mengyi's eyes instantly bulged when Xiang Wang joined him and his sister for dinner. Not that he really minded his presence, but he was amazed that her sister was able to invite his boss to dinner when they had just met.
They sat on a square table, with Xiang Wang right opposite Yu Ji and her brother at the side in between. The servant, a young lady dressed in fine formal came with a notepad and menu books in her hands. She wrote down their orders and left them alone, before later coming back with their food.
"So Yu Ji is your...younger sister?" Xiang Wang asked when he moved his fingers, cutting his steak with knife and fork.
"Yes."
"You're twenty eight, right?" He asked his assistant, who nodded as a reply.
"But you're twenty nine?" He turned his eyes to Yu Ji, who then changed looks with her brother for help. Seeing how Mengyi just focused on his food, she cleared her throat before answering, "I'm actually twenty three. I had to fake my age last time so that I can audition for modelling." Xiang Wang said nothing but just gave a smile to her. They continued to create small talks throughout their dinner, making small jokes and coming up with common topics.
When they were done, they asked for wine and the deep red liquid was immediately served on their table. When Mengyi picked up the glass, his sister looked at him hesitantly but he paid no attention to her and downed the glass at one go. He poured himself another glass, another, and another until his head was literally laying flat on the table, glued, his face was red like tomato. Yu Ji looked at him in disgust, internally shaking his head as she had known all the while how Mengyi had always had bad tolerance for alcohol. She secretly took a glance at Xiang Wang, who caught her in the act.
"I-I'm sorry. My brother's alcohol tolerance is really...bad," she said as she forced out an unwilling smile and immediately stood up, gently slapping her fingers on her brother's face.
"Brother, come on. Wake up, we should go," she said on a normal volume, but when her brother remained still like a corpse, she bent her body lower slightly and whispered, "hey, it's embarrassing if you're so drunk in front of your boss."
Xiang Wang looked at his assistant who still wouldn't budge and decided to stand up as well, moving to his side.
"We should bring him back." He swiftly lifted Mengyi's arms, pulling his body up in the movement while Yu Ji helped from the other side, lifting his other arm and flinging it over her shoulders.
All of a sudden, Mengyi's eyes opened, his vision looked clouded as he lifted his head easily like he was not drunk before.
"You two...have you forgotten something?"
"Huh?" the two of them looked at him and then at each other.
"Have you two forgotten something?" He asked once again, his eyes looking clear as ever before he dropped his head down and went back to sleep.
"Sleep talks," Yu Ji commented.

"Master Siming, I've done as you said," Zhinü bowed her head to the old woman who was still tending to her souvenir stall. She had a brush on her hands and cleaned her goods, watching as people passed by her stall to other stalls.
"Thank you, Zhinü,” Siming said. Zhinü stuck her head out of the stall and realised that no one noticed the stall.
"Why don't people come by your stall?" She asked curiously.
"If they don't have a need, they wouldn't come." The old woman smiled.
"What do you mean?"
"Look at these things, Zhinü. Aren't they beautiful? I've taken care of them for so long, because I want to ensure that when their owners have come to have their lives rewritten, they're still at their best condition." Zhinü turned her eyes to look at all the different things spread out on top of the counter. All of them looked old and dusty, definitely not in their best condition.
"Having your life rewritten isn't without a price. Those two...must pass the same trial that separated them in the past, but I'm scared they can't. Their trial should be this year, when he's thirty and she's twenty three, the exact same age death separated them in the past."
"..."
"Can you help them, Zhinü?" Zhinü looked at Siming with her unwilling eyes, before she groaned, "you know I always obey you." She went to the back of the stall that was pitch black and disappeared by the portal to another world. Siming picked up a browned thin silk scarf that must've been white before and smiled at it.
"You can come here, but your time isn't up yet Zhinü. This coming seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, after you cross the magpie bridge, you and him will be reincarnated." The old woman stuffed the silk scarf back to the racks below her counter and looked forward, sighing as time passed by slowly.
"Ahh...the next one is...coming in three months?"
