Inside the puffer fish…Something started emerging in the center of the stomach-floor; white fatty tissue attached to a big ulcer. Some bubbles popped by coming in contact with themselves and landed on the ulcer. The ulcer palpitated and increased in size. More bubbles were approaching us and the inside began to spin. Like a hamster on a spinning wheel, we navigated the spinning stomach.
Maneuvering the inside was nerve-racking. Now we would be able to walk on the walls and roof as well, since the interior was rotating. One sloppy step could make us trigger bubbles attached to the walls.
Now that a critical spot had appeared, we proceeded by peeking it whenever the rotation allowed us. We would also hold our position around the ulcer as much as possible to induce bubbles to pop near it. I Decided to damage the beast with its own weapons, I picked pieces of flesh we had chopped earlier and threw them at the bubbles whenever they were congested near the ulcer, "pop, pop, pop!" - the ulcer burned in acid and increased its size.
"Growl!!" - the beast made a painful moan and swallowed more water. Suddenly, we felt it accelerated and it hit something outside. The interior shook. The game had gotten easier at this point; it was just a matter of repeating the process…
It remained still in its original position. I wonder if it KO itself after stomping outside several times. It continued swallowing water, increasing the water level to a point we could swim. Now is our chance! I rode my terror bird and lead it around the bubble-maze; throwing pieces of flesh to pop bubbles and open new sections to navigate it. We reached the tunnel, but the water had not completely flood it, and we proceeded by climbing it.
The tunnel was too steep, we picked up speed to rush through it, but we slid; we attempted again, and the terror bird nailed its claws to the tunnel this time. Step by step, ascending to where it all began. The beast moaned in pain, letting a ray of sunlight illuminate the tunnel… And more water after it; sliding us all the way back.
If only we could initiate the puffer's rotation, this would be such an easy tunnel to cross, but how? "If this exit didn't work, let's dig a way out!" - I thought as I looked at how big the ulcer had grown; however, the way to get there was full of persistent bubbles which had amassed and were already taking their first sneak-peeks at the tunnel!
"$h!t! Let's get out of here!" - I told the terror bird as we jumped back to the pool that had formed in the stomach-chamber. We swam to the ulcer; which had a small surface popping out of the water like an iceberg, we stood on it, I got off the bird and pulled my sharp weapons, I got on my knees, and started stabbing the ulcer. My friend didn't disappoint and drilled fiercely.
We were unable to dig through it, but its size continued increasing. We believed we were making progress, until the first one appeared…A bubble? No, it had a distinct color… A tumor!! More tumors appeared and limited our walking surface as we didn't want to step on them. I stopped stabbing and hugged the bird, was this the end?
2 green floating bubbles collided nearby and splashed a tumor, "BOOM!" - A small explosion was triggered, it destroyed a section of the ulcer; creating air pressure that pushed us back.
"Wow, that was close! Let's get out of here, I have an idea." - I rode the terror bird and we took a big leap to the pool. We swam back to the tunnel, to a flat, dry section of it. On top of us, I could see an unreachable sun-ray which lead to the exit. I turned towards the ulcer with emerging tumors.
"Get ready!" - I point at the tunnel, the bird nails its claws to it so we can climb it. I open my harness's pocket and grab a grenade. I close my eyes and remove the pin-lock; I open my eyes, "huh? What is that?!"
Maybe it was just my imagination, but it seemed like a traced path was showing me where to throw the grenade and avoid bubbles. Without second thought, I threw the grenade; despite never being good at baseball, the grenade curved as it followed the traced path. The grenade landed on the ulcer's surface, I jumped on the bird, "rush!!" - The bird started climbing the tunnel swiftly, the beast moaned and illuminated the whole tunnel as it opened its mouth…
"Kaboom!!" - The grenade exploded and triggered all the tumors; which in turn detonated the gastric acid bubbles. The stomach inflated past its limit-break with all the air pressure. The air pressure ejected us so rapidly through the tunnel as if it were a ramp. As we were catapulted into the sky, we saw flesh and scales flying along our side. Bye bye, mother puffer!
