Someone is in a wrecking ship.
Floating in space. There´s no sea. Only nebula and trash.
The remains of the ship fly around without a course.
Someone had the feeling they were there before.
The twilight sky felt so familiar.
Someone walked to the main door of the ship. A door with a circular window.
Someone opened it and went inside, closing it as they step in.
The window marks the path to follow.
A beautiful hall with big windows extends until it can´t be seen.
Someone goes illuminated by the twilight shine.
When Someone turned around the corner, it didn´t look like they were still inside the ship.
The scenary had changed to become a corridor with multiple doors. Each marking a number of three digits. Someone kept walking looking at the numbers.
"201, 202...a door without number... 204...wait" Someone went back to the door without number.
Someone wanted to check inside, so Someone opened it.
The nerve-inducing sound of a door that needed oil.
Someone saw darkness.
But Someone could also see a bright yellow light illuminating a table.
It was a surgery table.
Someone was more concerned about how clean the table was.
It looked like it was just cleaned up, instead of brand new.
The door behind them closed making someone startled.
The light went off.
Someone was left in complete darkness.
A hissing voice whispered on Someone´s ears.
"Do we have a visitor?"
Someone was strangely calm.
Had they been there before?
"What´s the visitor motive to come and rudely don´t introduce themselves?" Someone felt long fingers touching their shoulders.
"What´s your name?"
"I don´t remember..." Someone blasted out. They had not wanted to talk.
"Visitor can´t remember their own name?" the hands patted Someone´s head.
"Worry not, Visitor. You can always rest here" Suddenly the light from before came back, illuminating the same table from before. The light was so bright, Someone could see the black gigantic hand showing them the table with its long fingers.
"You swear not to hurt me?" Someone talked without thinking again.
"If you can decipher my riddles" The voice soflty whispered. Someone could feel the voice´s breathing down their neck.
Someone was now on the table.
There was nothing restraining them but they couldn´t move.
Their body was acting too strange. Like if it was possesed.
The voice owner was closer to the light now, so Someone could see it more clearly. They were wearing a top hat and long black coat without pockets with clear glasses.
Someone could see the eyes behind the glasses. Red and with a white pupil.
Someone noticed something strange: The owner´s skin was ashy. Crumbling.
"May we start? My riddles; complicated at first, easy to understand once explained, and almost impossible to decipher. Now, Visitor, can you solve them?"
Someone could only breath in response.
"Good!" the voice said. "Let´s see, hmmm oh! I know, I know!"
Someone had a really bad feeling about this.
"You wear me everyday, but you never put me down. I will change colors if you leave me out for too long, what am I?" The voice asked for the first time.
Someone didn´t blast out something.
Someone could think their answer.
Someone came to a conclusion.
And Someone told it.
"Skin" Someone was right.
"Correct! Now what happens if we pull the skin out?" The person swirled their hands.
Someone´s skin was in their hand now.
Someone screamed in excruciating pain, amusing the person lurking in the darkness.
"Now, now, darling. We still got two more riddles to go! Don´t go dying like everyone else!" The person caressed Someone´s skinless face. "If you get to the last riddle I´ll put your skin back, I promise! This time for real".
"Well, now which one should follow? Let´s see, let´s see..." The person didn´t mind Someone´s screams, urging them to do it faster.
"What´s broken when it´s not held?" They asked for the second time.
Someone thought briefly on it.
It was obvious and annoyingly true in this moment.
"A PROMISE!" Someone screamed.
"Yes! Yes! You´re very intelligent, Visitor!" The person in the darkness got closer jumping in happiness. Someone was crying. The salt on their tears burning their skin as they went down.
"This is the last riddle, Visitor. Do not disappoint me. You´re precious to me alright?" The person told Someone putting their head next to them.Quickly they stood away and roamed in the darkness. Only their glasses shining "What can the next riddle be? which should I tell?" the person asked no one in particular.
And when the riddle came to the person´s mind, they asked for the third, and final, time.
"I may seem real, yet I am not,
Once you're gone I'm often forgot.
Time here stretches and it shrinks,
It all depends on how you think.
I may be good, I may be bad,
I may be the same as one you've had.
Here nothing matters,
For everything shatters,
Deep inside your darkest hours."
Someone had payed attention through the pain. But they thought and thought and couldn´t solve it.
What was it?
Someone didn´t understand the riddle.
Someone was in pain and the time was running out of time.
Time...
It shrinks and expands as it pleased.
Nothing matters because everything always shatters.
It seemed real, but...was it really?
Someone softly responded the riddle.
"It´s a dream".
The person in the dark smiled. And put Someone´s skin back. Aliviating Someone´s pain.
"Remember, Visitor, We are always waiting for you here. We will see each other again tonight" the person told Someone.
Someone opened their eyes.
Someone saw their room´s celing.
Someone was finally awake.
But Someone was not Someone anymore.
Someone was in the real world.
This world is filled with Someone´s.
And this Someone is you.
Don´t miss tonight´s date with the person who lurks in the dark!
You won´t like to keep them waiting do you?
