Iesa sat on his floor and continued to gaze up at the moon that gazed back at him. He examined each detail the moon held on its body. The patches of gray and white were shown as it fell into the darkness behind it. There were no stars in the sky like books had described. Just the moon. He closed his eyes and as he did, the lights went out.
The moon’s light carved into him, pressing into each of his scars that he had received from his Mother, the dark creature, and the evil thoughts that crossed his mind. A thought crossed his mind that although the moon feels like that of ice, it was the warmest thing he’s felt since his mothers' hand this morning.
The door slowly creaked opened and his heart melted into the floorboards he was sitting on. He didn’t hear the heavy footsteps that rumbled the hall that would have told him to hide.
Slowly he brought his hands up to his mouth and covered it in order to stop the sound of him breathing to escape. The door unfolded and a hefty foot came crashing in. He opened his eyes and the moon was back to normal. It was away from the window and its beady body was far away, deep into the night sky. Sweat poured down his face as it took another step forward, rattling his dresser, the Closet, and his bed. It was there. Behind him. Searching for any noise that could relate back to him.
"Marikou, Marikou..." its voice grumbled.
"Monster, Monster..." Iesa translated, hearing the drool splatter onto the floorboards.
The wood hissed as the acid from the dark creature spilled onto it. Iesa gulped. The creature was only a few inches away from his body. He shifted his attention away from the window and to the right but wish he didn't. His eyes crawled up the dark lanky figures body all the way to its head that peered down at him. Glowing sharp teeth he spotted through the blackness along with large circle yellow eyes.
"Marikou! Marikou!" it happily spoke.
Color slipped from Iesa's body as he knew, tonight, was not going to be a good night.
