Hey! So, I was watching a bunch of VRchat videos on youtube and I thought Yep I want to try that. Welp, after 100 min of game time I am still not sure if my mic works or if my laptop could even handle the stress.
ANYWAYS... On with today's prompt!
The Four Magical words: Soar, Quarrel, Shadow, Arrogant.
Time Limit: Mmm... Let's reach for 30 min.
3,2,1, Let's Begin!
"Dude, just jump off." Walt said, his own nerves were straining his voice.
"One, don't call me dude, and two, I will go when I am good and ready." I kept my eyes on the horizon, too afraid too look down at my feet. I sucked in the air around me in half hopes it would help me float.
"You're taking too long!" Walt said pushing me off the cliff we were standing on. Fear got the best of me and I quickly grabbed on to the closest thing near me.
Walt.
We screamed as we fell.
"Nina! Press the button!" Walt said as his sweaty handy struggled to hold onto mine. We were falling fast and if I hesitated another second, our shadows wouldn't be the only things that touched the ground.
I squeezed my eyes shut and slammed my free hand into my chest. There was a whirring sound. The kind of noise a fridge makes in the middle of night when the rest of the house is quiet.
Half a second later my other arm felt like it was being ripped out of it's socket as the weight between Walt and I shifted. Before I could even begin fathom what was happening I forced Walt to grab my free hand so I could fly straighter.
"Wahoo!" I screamed with pure ecstasy. "It works! It works!"
"Holy crap, dude!" Walt shouted above the sound of the wind rushing past us. "We did it!"
Our moment of joy only lasted a few more seconds before my chest-plate started to vibrate. If we didn't land soon, we'd be back where we started. I adjusted our position and soared toward the field below us. Walt's landing was pretty alright, he only stumbled once when he hit the ground. My landing on the other hand involved dirt and a lot of bruises the next morning.
"We were flying!" I said throwing off my jet pack a little harder than I should have. My arms spread out wide as I ran toward Walt, who was mirroring my every move. We collided hard into each other.
"I would say, falling with style," He laughed loudly and although I couldn't see it, I knew he had a cheeky grin to match it.
"Shut up!" I teased pulling just far enough away from him so I could see his face.
Then everything stopped.
The birds stopped chipping, the infamous Illinois wind stopped blowing, leaving strands of Walt's short brown hair to stand right up, and our eyes would forever hold hope and promise of a brighter future in them.
END OF MEMORY CLIP. WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THE NEXT ONE?
The screen in front of me went blurry and a timer set for ten seconds started counting down.
"Awe, Babe, Did you start watching without me?"
I heard his voice before I saw his face. Walt put both hands on the couch before jumping onto it from behind.
"Just the first one," I said scooting closer my husband as his arm stretched along the back of the couch. "You were so cute back then. What happened?"
"Still am." He chuckled.
"And less arrogant," I said playfully rolling my eyes. Walt nudged me and I nudged him back.
"You'd think we'd grow out of our little quarrels," He said with a sigh as the next memory clip started to play.
"Who says I want to?"
*~*~*~*~
Once again I had lots of ways I wanted this to end. Maybe one day I'll do a challenge with the same stories just different outcomes. That would be pretty cool! Anyways sorry for my absence I've been a bad seed. Also, did anyone catch my reference I snuck in ;) Fun Fact: The longest word in the Oxford English Dictionary is, Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. It is a 48 letter word and it means pneumonia you develop from breathing in microscopic dust from a volcano that has erupted.
