Sarvati's Journal: Talaari Forest

Sarvati's Journal: Talaari Forest

Apr 18, 2018

Day 32, Celestial of The Great Twins, 24th Year of Drakko the 1st.

Big is relative.

Something which is big for a human, might be puny for a dragon, especially for a true dragon. Sizing is one of the many things that dragons and their human neighbors disagree upon.

However, both and everyone else may agree upon the definition of gigantic. One clear example is Talaari Forest.

We might need to sneak into human territory named Kingdom of Andralach. However, before that happens, we need to pass Talaari Forest which stretches along the borders of Andralach and The Dragon Empire. Interestingly enough, it also served as a natural border between the two.

Only the northern part of the border between the two kingdoms were not covered by the forest. That part is mountainous anyway, which I believe also works as some sort of natural border in its own way.

I would call the trees in Talaari Forest as unnaturally big. However, Blue Jerk is pestering me with with constant blabbering that the trees were natural. In fact, more natural than dragons or any other magic wielding sentient beings.

Still, the sizes of the trees made it hard for me to believe Blue Jerk’s words. Putting aside the fact that it is already hard for me to believe any word he spouts from his infinitely branched tongue.

The one he used as shelter for his meditation was one of the tallest trees I’ve seen in the forest. The height of the tree is at least around twenty five Blue Jerks stacked on top of each other while standing straight. To be honest, I cannot imagine how annoying it would be if there was really twenty five of him in the same place at the same time.

That would be a nightmare worse than facing Rahnuc alone.

I’ve heard one interesting theory about the trees, a theory which Blue Jerk also seem to agree. The sizes of the trees might be affected by the size of true dragons. As the dragons grew larger, so does the forest. However, when dragons shrink in size, the forest didn’t.

Perhaps, humans were the reason why they didn’t shrink. As I said earlier, this forest serves as natural border for Dragon Empire, but not just as a physical border. Conflicts and skirmishes in Talaari Forest were far less compared to the mountainous northern area. The forest seems to make both race to hesitate waging a fight on its grove.

Perhaps everyone was afraid a battle would cause the trees here to fall and smash everyone beneath them. It was a rather horrifying thing to imagine and also inspiring. I could just cut one of the tree to fall on Blue Jerk in order to make him shut his jaws.

Not all part of the forest is filled with gigantic trees. The sizes of the trees get smaller the closer it they are towards human region. Interestingly, the animals in the forest are normal sized and animals from prairie habitat are often found here.

This could happen due to the lush grasses filling the bed of the forest. The spaces between trees are also quite wide, giving more room to maneuver and giving the chance for sunlight to reach the grasses,

The lack of conflict between dragons and humans in this area could also serve as a factor that encourage the growth of grasses and animals.

The biggest animal in this forest are elephant deers which have a very juicy and delicious meat. Another thing that humans and dragons could agree upon is the fact that both enjoyed the meat of the game, especially when it is roasted as it unleashed a very appetizing smell. I always wonder if the meat of elephant deers might pave the way for the true peace between dragons and human. Where both side sit next to each other enjoying roasted game meat.

… writing this makes me hungry.

Nice intro of the forest near human settlements. It really builds the scene!

Seven years have passed since the fall of Rahnuc, The Dragon Demon King, at the hands of Rignil, The Chosen Knight. For a while, the world turned peaceful. Rignil was hailed as a hero, the savior of the world, before he finally vanished.

The disappearance happened as chaotic forces, remnants of Rahnuc's power, loomed over the world, once again.

It was Sarvati Vermillion, a loyal friend to The Chosen Knight, who took the duty to carry on Rignil's dream of a completely peaceful world. In order to stop the impending doom, she was tasked to supervise the most dangerous criminal in The Dragon Empire, Vayyu Wissn.

Sarvati doubted Vayyu's capabilities due to the latter's attitude. Matters went worse as Shivvar, Vayyu's rather foolish friend, joined the party. The two dracconid's immense strength finally gave Sarvati a new hope to complete Rignil's dream. Yet, those very strength are the cause of her new doubt regarding their origins.

Demonic powers are not the only thing they have to face. Each of them must face their past, their true self, and the darkness within.
