Day two. The suit that was prepared for me was not the best I owned. I had hoped to wear the dark blue suit with a red tie and a pair of blue pants, but the one that was chosen was acceptable despite the lack of a jacket. "They're waiting for you, I know you're not happy, just act like you are. They don't want to be here more you do." She said this straightening my collar and shoving me out of my room. They were waiting downstairs. "Hello, Rory." The one running the interview was a strangely happy person considering all the reports of similar people being murdered recently. He continued, "Just sit down there and I'll ask you a few questions." He pointed to a chair opposite him. "First, just to satisfy my curiosity, we have given you many opportunities to have an interview, but you've always responded with a..." he paused and silently thought about his next words. "...A strongly worded letter refusing. Why start now?"
"As you would probably know since it was your newspaper that published the article, my wife has gone missing, I was hoping to answer some questions about her. Some of the people who read this paper might know where she is. So can we start with that." He took out a notebook and started to take notes, "Why do you think your wife ran away?"
"I don't know we had no troubles, it might be due to the death of Harry but that's just speculation." Wilfred brought both me and him a cup of tea. "How were things in your house before she ran away? Any marriage complications? Stress?"
"There were a lot of concerns about the recent string of murders but other than that, not as far as I'm aware." He took notes based on everything I said in great detail. "Could you give a description of your wife for the readers so they know what to look for?" As it had been a long time since I last saw my wife, I had to take a photo of the wall." Ok. She has brown hair, light brown skin, she's tall and has blue eyes." He took note of the description each detail meticulously. "Do you want my advice?" He acted like he had been in a similar position. "No, but I'm sure you'll tell me anyway."
"Don't look for her, there are too many killers out there and it is likely she is already dead." This news was not new to me, killers were sometimes seen as celebrities with collectors and their obsession with autographs. He took a long sip of his tea, "Would you like to talk about Harry's death? some people seem to believe that the two cases are linked someway. Do you have anything to say about that?"
"Both Mary and Harry knew each other. They did before I knew Harry so it's a possibility, but as far as I'm aware, the two events have no link." Again he took notes but this time he stopped and pressed his pen against his upper lip thinking about every word and it's effect on the article, he resumed. "Is there any other information you can give about Harry's death? I talked to your Butler when you were upstairs and he told me you were there. How did he die? Was it painful? And most importantly, what were his lasts words?" His last words were undignified for lack of a better word, and I had to watch as he cried in both fear and agony. The least I could do was make his last moments seem brave even if they weren't. "He was laying in bed it was about seven am. I had just read his copy of the will he only gave his possessions to both me and his son. When he died, he was silent." That was the only story I could think of and thought it was far away from the truth. The only one present in the room was me so the public wouldn't know.
Creeping wood could be heard in the background, there was someone in my house. I left the interview to investigate. It was Sophie leaving, "You have had the chance to meet Mary right?"
"I'm leaving."
"The interviewer might have some questions for you."
"The two facts aren't completely unrelated." I could tell she wanted to leave so I let her, but not before asking why but she only gave me a note. It was short and signed with a signature I hadn't seen in my life.
"Dear Sophie Turner;
During the time you were gone, a lot of things have happened. Unfortunately, this includes the death of my son and your husband Joel Bell due to undetermined causes."
