Getting Desperate

I’m a bit anxious about traveling alone. Can I do it? What happens when I get lost and the GPS isn’t working? It’ll get dark and I’ll still be looking around for land marks. Addresses are useless in Japan, and not many streets have names. They certainly don’t have handy street name markers at intersections. I’ll be alllllll alooooone in a foreign country. And my Japanese is miserable.
Me: Sumimasen! Tokoro o shiranai. Iidabashi eki wa kochira desu ka?
Stranger: [[rapid-fire Japanese in polite style]]
Me: Heh, ahh… so desu ka? Arigato…I think I’ll go over here and cry now.
