“So, why were you walking all alone? You’re mom used to always drive you for the first day.”
“I don’t really want to talk about it.” We kept walking and catching up until we reached Maple Leaf High. The school has two stories and is painted brown and green. There is a big maple leaf on the front of the school. Even though it’s a grade A high school, it looks kinda weird.
“What’s your first class?” Lucas asked me.
“Um,” I took out my schedule and checked before responding, “Looks like I have Algebra. I don’t like math.”
“I have geometry. Guess we don’t have the same first class” He responded as he was looking at his schedule.
“Gimmie that.” I said taking his schedule out of his hand.
“Hey! What gives?”
“I’m checking to see if we have any classes together. Or at least the same lunch.” I responded looking over both of our schedules.
“Looks like we have the same lunch, Spanish, and Science together.” I said as I handed his schedule back to him.
“Cool. What number is you’re locker?” Lucas asked me.
“Uh,” I looked at my schedule, my locker number is in the top right corner, “it’s
“Mine is number 20. Our lockers are close to each other, nice.”
“Yeah, cool.” I responded looking around the schoolyard. There are two big Black Oak tree’s, there were dark red rose bushes, and not a lot of people. I took out my phone and checked the time, it was 7:55. School starts at 8:10, why aren’t there a lot of people here? What if everyone is already inside? I was asking myself all of these questions in my head until I heard someone call my name.
“Charlotte? Charlotte?” It was Lucas
“Hmm? What is it?” I asked him still distracted.
“Were you listening to me?”
“Do you know why there aren’t a lot of people out here?” I asked ignoring his question.
“They’re probably already inside.” That makes sense. I thought as I started walking to find my locker and put some stuff in it.
“Hey! Don’t leave me behind!” Lucas said calling after me.
“Schools going to start soon, we better get to homeroom.” I said putting my combination in my locker. I wonder why it’s called a locker. I thought to myself.
