Roger stared at the severed head of the vampire that just tried to kill him before he looked up at Jeremy, slightly annoyed. The elder vampire held his gaze, waiting for a response.
"Marked One? Are you serious?" Roger reminded, crossing his arms. Jeremy grimaced and sighed.
"Force of habit," Jeremy insisted as Roger glared him down. It was a heavy offense for a vampire or werewolf to lay claim to an agent, no matter what division they were from. Especially doing it to a new recruit when they can't tell what had been done to them. If Roger had stopped and paid attention to Lily's complaining, he would have seen the signs.
"Will it wear off, at least?" Roger implored, worried about his ally. Jeremy had helped on many cases and dangerous situations, and Roger would like to keep him around. However, the vampire just smiled sheepishly. "What did you do?"
"Eventually it will wear off," Jeremy mentioned, realizing what he had done.
"Eventually?"
"It might take a few months, but hey, on the bright side, another vampire shouldn't touch her. Quinn was impulsive and reckless, but she should be safe now during her training," Jeremy mentioned, trying to remain optimistic. Roger groaned and put his head in his hands, unsure of what to do.
"I can't believe you! Is it because she could see through your glimmer? Is that why?" Roger asked, getting a little panicky. Jeremy shook his head.
"No, I think it was a little more personal than that. I did notice her stare, but I also found that I didn't mind her stare. I wanted to meet her, and I got a little carried away," Jeremy answered as Roger sighed, rubbing his head again.
"Carried away? This is a little bit more than getting carried away. You knew who she was, and yet you marked her anyway. You can get in so much trouble over this. I don't think Kurt is going to be able to overlook this," Roger replied hastily, trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
"Look, I'll talk to Kurt about it personally and offer my apologies and accept the consequences of such an act. Honestly, it might just be a fine or a temporary banishment while Miss Ambers recovers. I'm a valuable ally, he can't afford to lose me," Jeremy rationalized as Roger nearly exploded.
"That doesn't mean you can do whatever you want! What if other faction leaders found out? What if they decided they were above the law, too?" Rogers nearly screamed, extremely frustrated. Jeremy, however, didn't seemed too bothered about it.
"Would you rather I didn't talk to Kurt? Would you rather we try to sweep this under the rug? Because he'll find out. He's not an idiot," Jeremy countered, thinking that Roger worried a little too much.
"I'm not saying that! I just don't know what to do, because this is a huge problem and you are treating it like a mild inconvenience. Not to mention that Lily might be traumatized by the entire event," Roger reminded as Jeremy smiled at her name. "Stay focused!"
"She'll be fine. Kurt wouldn't have brought her in if she couldn't handle the pressure," Jeremy suggested as Roger stared at the vampire, absolutely speechless. Roger had no idea what to say to Jeremy to sway his opinion. Eventually, Roger just sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Are you going to clean this up, then?" Roger asked, looking at Quinn's headless body. Jeremy nodded with a sigh.
"Yeah, I can handle this, and I'll bring back the new vampire in so she can get the best treatment. She'll be in good hands," Jeremy informed as he walked over to the new vampire.
"Do you recognize her?"
"No, I don't think I've ever seen her before. Maybe she was visiting a friend in the city and went down the wrong alleyway. We'll get her readjusted so she can be reintroduced into society," Jeremy reassured before Roger nodded.
"Good plan, and I'll take Lily back home so she can get some rest. Maybe get some questions answered when she wakes back up," Roger whispered, crossing his arms again. Jeremy grinned as he glanced at Lily. "Stop that."
"Stop what? She's cute," Jeremy pointed out as Roger groaned loudly.
"I don't care if you think she's cute. You're being creepy," Roger countered. "Besides, you are in enough trouble as it is."
"I guess that's true. Well, when she's feeling better and unmarked, maybe I'll make a reappearance and reintroduce myself properly and professionally," Jeremy decided as lit a match he retrieved from his pocket. Roger picked up Lily as the vampire lit the decapitated body on fire before Jeremy retrieved the new vampire. "Until we meet again."
"Uh huh," Roger whispered before getting out of the quickly burning building as Jeremy disappeared from sight.
