Chapter 4: Things Start Unraveling Part 4

Chapter 4: Things Start Unraveling Part 4

May 09, 2018

Nikeya asked, “What she needed to do?” Chase replied, “You can start by peeling the last two potatoes.” He handed her the potato peeler and told her to, “Stand over the sink just in case you accidentally drop the potato.” She started peeling the potato while Chase went into the freezer to grab some beef chunks. He went back over to the sink to go put the beef chunks under cold water so they could defrost properly. When he arrived at the sink he watched as Nikeya peeled a potato, he notice she was digging into the potato with the potato peeler instead of letting it glide across it. So he put the beef on top of the counter next to the stove and came up behind Nikeya. He reached from behind her and guided her hands, she started to blush as he was touching her hands. “See if you let it glide across the potato then you’ll have more potato and you won’t accidentally cut yourself.” He said this while guiding her hands in the right motion. When he saw her getting the hang of it he loosened up his grip and then slowly got from behind her. He was thinking in his mind how soft she felt, he went to grab the beef and he put it in the other side of the sink and ran cold water on it. He then went to the stove and grabbed a large saucepan, put it on a burner, then turned one of the six burners on low, and poured a little vegetable oil in the large saucepan. He grabbed another chopping board and put it next to the stove. He also grabbed a Chef's knife and put it on top of the chopping board. He went to go check on Nikeya to see how she was doing. She had finished peeling the potatoes. “Okay now that the potatoes are done I’ll need you to cut them. The question is can you cut?” Chase asked her a question that seemed illogical to her. “Of course I do it’s not that hard.” She replied with a simple answer. “Okay then, grab the potatoes and start chopping them on the chopping board next to the stove. I’ll use the one at the sink minus the potato peeler which can go in the sink.” Chase explained. Nikeya walked over to the chopping board and picked up the knife. Alex watched his plan start to unravel, he was sure that it was gonna work out fine. He noticed how they looked like newly married couple trying to work together to make dinner for each other. He waved at Nikeya so she could come over, she saw him wave and quickly walked over. “Hey could you make more cooking mistakes? I notice how Chase takes a small pause when he touches you. I think he’s having thoughts about how girls are.” Alex whispered in Nikeya’s ear. “Yea sure it shouldn’t be that hard.” Nikeya responded in a light voice that was similar to a whisper. She rushed back over to the chopping board next to the stove and wondered how could she make a cooking mistake in cutting? She thought to herself for a minute. Chase went to grab an onion from the refrigerator and then he noticed Nikeya cutting the potato in half. He went to look over her shoulders to see if she was doing it correctly. Alex observed Chase very closely even though he wasn’t too close to the action. Chase saw Nikeya holding the knife wrong and she was cutting it wrong as well. He thought to himself, ‘Has she ever cooked before?’ He reached once again from behind her, but this time he hesitated a little this time. He grabbed her hands again, he held her hand with the knife and fixed the way she was holding it. He also grabbed her hand that was holding one half of the potato, he brought her hand with the knife to the halved potato and started guiding her hands to cut properly. He did this until he had her hand cut both halves of the potato into triangular pieces. “It’s okay if you haven’t cooked before I can teach you what you don’t know.” Chase said unaware what that meant to Nikeya. Nikeya had almost turned a tomato red color when he said that. It took Chase a minute to realize what he said, he only blushed a little. Alex noticed almost immediately it was the first time he saw Chase blush. Chase then started to release his grip on Nikeya, she tightened her arms around his. “Please let’s just stay like this for a little bit longer.” When she told him this Chase didn’t know how to react to that. He thought to himself, ‘What should I do, she feels and smells really nice. But we’re cooking I can’t let anything burn, but how do I escape this situation. I’m starting to not wanna let go of her, what’s going on.’ Chase tried to make an excuse to let go of her, “Umm I would love to but I have to go check on the beef chunks to see if they’ve thawed out yet.”
