Roger woke slowly that morning, not as hungover as he usually was. Stretching, he noticed the time was a little past noon, which was a little later than when he wanted to get up. He swung his legs to the side of the bed, recognizing the sound of the washer going. Lily must have started her laundry, meaning that she was getting used to her new home.
He stood up and yawned, stretching again. He wondered what else she was able to get done as he opened his bedroom door. The washer was louder, but it didn't cover up the sound of conversation in the living room. Wary, he slowly walking down the hall as he pulled out the knife he kept on his hip. As he continued down the hallway, he saw someone sitting next to Lily on the couch. As he grew closer, he realized who it was and sighed loudly. Lily turned around with a trying grin, telling Roger that this wasn't her idea.
"Jeremy, what on earth are you doing here?" Roger asked, rubbing the bridge of his nose. The vampire turned around and smiled genuinely.
"I thought I would stop by and say hi," Jeremy answered as Lily changed the channel when the show went to commercial.
"He put roses in my room," Lily added, thinking that it was important that Roger knew that as well. Roger put the knife away and walked into the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Jeremy watched him, worried that he was going to get yelled at again.
"You know, of all the vampires that I would have thought would be in my house all the time, I would not have thought it would be you, Jeremy. King of the South Shore, here in my room, hitting on my roommate. You know, I would have laughed if someone told me that this was my future. I would have guessed that the King of the South Shore would have more to do than watch television with a Sighter," Roger informed loudly from the kitchen. Jeremy pursed his lips as Lily shrugged, already accepting the reality of Jeremy just being in the apartment. "Do you have important things to do? Are you neglecting your duties when you hang out on my couch?"
"No, I have people to watch the land for me. To make sure that vampires like Quinn are taken care of swiftly, and they know where I am most of the time. My duties are well fulfilled," Jeremy informed making Roger smile in the kitchen. Soon, he emerged with a cup of coffee and sat down at the dining table, unsure what else was going to surprise him today.
"What do you say that you come see Kurt with us today? We have to drop off the paperwork anyway, the sooner the better, honestly. Why not come with us? You can explain your infatuation with Lily, and clear the air," Roger suggested, staring at the wall in front of him. Jeremy frowned, finding Roger's voice rather patronizing and rude. Lily sighed, wondering if this was the best decision for her after all.
"I guess we can clear the air," Jeremy muttered.
"What are you going to tell him?" Lily asked as she changed the channel again. Jeremy sighed and leaned back.
"I don't know, but I know I want to make sure that I can keep visiting," Jeremy answered.
"Are you going to call before you show up?"
"Maybe."
"That's not good enough. You have to ask to come over instead of climbing through a window, or however you get inside," Lily informed, side eyeing him. He frowned again.
"What if you don't want me to come over that day?"
"Then you are going to have to deal with that. There are going to be some days that I might want some alone time, and you barging in isn't welcome," Lily answered, growing annoyed by his abrasive behavior. Jeremy sighed and looked toward Roger, who said nothing. He hardly recognized the vampire's presence anymore.
"If I did ask to come over, would you let me in?" Jeremy asked, continuing the conversation. Lily shrugged.
"Maybe, depends on what you did lately. Besides, I think it might be best, like you said the other day, that you try and keep your distance. Just because I can't get you off my mind doesn't mean I need you to be by me all the time," Lily remarked before looking at Jeremy, who looked rather hurt by the comment.
"You don't like me being here?"
"It's not that. You seem nice, but I don't know you very well, and yet you've gotten me flowers and broke into the apartment twice. As far as first impressions go, you're not starting out very strong," Lily answered, returning her attention to the black box. Jeremy sighed, realizing that she was right. He was being abrasive, and creepy, as Roger had put it. He stood up.
"Then I will try to do better," Jeremy vowed, earning both of their attention. Lily wondered if he was always so dramatic, and Roger wondered when he was going to leave. "I will meet you at Kurt's to help explain the situation."
"Sounds great," Roger answered with a fake smile. Lily glanced at her roommate before looking at Jeremy again. Lily watched as Jeremy walked out the door as he blew a kiss toward her before closing the front door. Both of the roommates stared at the door, speechless for a moment. "This might be a bigger deal than we think."
