"What is the meaning of this?" Kurt shouted as he slammed the door behind Lily and Roger, making both of them jump in surprise. Jeremy waved politely, incredibly nervous about the whole interaction. Roger glared at the vampire, annoyed that his employer was angry with him. "I told you to look after our newest recruit, and a few days later I find out that she's been marked by a clan leader? Do you understand how serious this offense is? What on earth were you doing while it was happening?"
"Mr. Thatcher, he was right there, but I made sure to hide it from him. It's not his fault," Jeremy insisted, turning up the charm. Kurt turned and looked at the vampire.
"Regardless of what you are able to hide, Roger should have seen it happen and at least tried to prevent it. This is reckless behavior, and it will not be tolerated. Roger, we will talk about your discipline later, however. We have to determine what is going to happen with Lily, because if another clan gets wind of this, we might have a riot on our hands. They might think that the NHRO takes sides in such matters, which we don't," Kurt explained, mainly for Lily's sake, who hung her head. She wondered if she and Roger would get fired over this. "To be honest, I have no idea on how to remedy the situation. I don't think this has ever happened in the history of NHRO, and there's not a protocol on it."
"Lily could stay at my place for the time being," Jeremy asked as Roger and Lily shot glares toward him. Kurt was not fond of the idea either. "Listen, Lily hasn't turned in her paperwork, correct? That means that she's not officially on the NHRO's payroll or technically associated with you yet. If Lily were to stay in one of my spare bedrooms, then it would seem normal. There would be no reason to bring the organization in on it."
"That's ridiculous," Roger began as the wizard held up his hand to quiet him. Lily looked up at the old man.
"It's not completely ludicrous, and it might actually work. However, I would have to require Roger to go with Lily, if we are to follow through with this plan. Lily is Roger's responsibility, and this could be your disciplinary action. Yes, I think this will work. You will go undercover with Lily to Jeremy's house as her brother or something. You'll make sure that we get our agent back," Kurt explained, leaving the other three speechless before they all started talking at once.
"I'm not living there," Lily informed harshly.
"I'm not going undercover, that's suicide!" Roger answered loudly.
"Having an active agent would put me at risk," Jeremy remarked sternly. Kurt frowned at their complaints and sighed.
"If not, you will be fired and removed from the organization, and that includes you, Jeremy. Our alliance hangs in the balance. Let's see if you can regain my trust," Kurt warned, silencing everyone. Lily cautiously rose her hand, as if she was in school. The wizard calmed at the strange action and looked at her.
"I was able to fill out the paperwork. Would you be able to hold on to it until I come back in a few months?" Lily implored, taking the stack out of her tattered backpack. Kurt sighed and nodded, taking the papers out of her hand.
"I'm sorry to make you go through moving again, dear. Hopefully this will be the only move you'll make in a while," Kurt apologized, feeling genuinely bad for including her in the other two's punishment. Lily shrugged.
"It is what it is. Do I have to move my furniture?" Lily asked as Jeremy stepped forward.
"My rooms are furnished, so you don't have to worry about that," Jeremy informed, earning a glare from Roger.
"Anyway, Roger, I will expect a report every week on Jeremy's end of the bargain and Lily's safety, just so I know when I have to send in NHRO agents to retrieve you," Kurt informed as Jeremy crossed his arms.
"I hardly believe that's necessary," the vampire informed before Kurt turned towards him.
"I sincerely hope it isn't necessary, for your sake," Kurt warned as Jeremy nodded once. "Also, Roger, we weren't able to go over Sonya's relocation, would you like to go over that now?"
"I think we should go over that during my first report next week," Roger answered, glancing at the other two. Kurt nodded, understanding his point of view.
"Of course. I will be in touch, and I wish you all the best of luck. Please don't draw too much attention," Kurt implored as Roger nodded.
"We will do our best," Roger replied before bowing again. This time, Lily did as well, but it wasn't as neat as his as she was too hasty. Kurt waved as all three left and he closed the door with a snap.
