This was a in class assignment. The instructions was to read "Flying Kites" by Quincey Troupe. Then make a list of ten things you used to have and ten things you have today. Choose one item from each list. The teacher wanted the poem to have an happy ending. I don't follow that so I made an alternate ending just in case. The poem below is the one with original ending.
I used to have a play room.
You had yellow walls
A chest with so many toys I loved
Book cases filled beyond the max with books that touched my heart
And a desk where I did my work
Behind the door is a chart of our growth.
Today I don't have a play room.
Your yellow walls are now painted purple
In the toy's chest place is the bed where a demon sleeps
The book cases are gone; the room seems smaller
The desk is gone so I have no where to work
At least the door is still the same.
