Day 10 - Career! I’m very fortunate to have really supportive coworkers and an awesome HR team at my place of business - many transgender people work in unsupportive or even hostile environments, and it’s much harder for transgender people to find work. A survey of transgender people conducted in 2015 found that the unemployment rate among respondents was about 15% - three times the national average of 5%. And 30% of respondents said they were fired, denied a promotion, or experienced some other form of mistreatment at their job.
