LOG BOOK
More activity this month which means some less favourable developments, I’m afraid.
Most notable: near-miss with a colony of wisps scavenging a village abandoned after imperial raid. Wisps larger and wilder than the last lot, though with speech faculties and organised within nesting groups. Hard to tell whether nests previously dormant or perhaps even newly formed in wake of the Surge - worth passing on to Rangers to warn human travellers?
Hardly more than I could handle, but escaping notice significantly more difficult travelling in human company, and overall somewhat alarming, to tell the truth. If I’m ravaged terribly in the wilderness, never to return, make sure not to tell my family - but do ideally describe to Ishaan in lavish detail and make him feel as guilty as possible. My thanks in advance.
It also means we’re running short on food, but I expect to come up with an ingenious solution extremely soon.
Amrita synthesis proceeding as usual (cautiously, I swear); results and notes regarding future avenues of research enclosed.
Your shaken but ultimately rather capable/dashing servant,
C. S. S.
PS I came upon a very curious map in an abandoned cottage some time ago. I neglected to bring it with me, thinking it unimportant - but thinking of it now, it may have had markings indicating the destruction of this very village (made by a ranger?) All I can remember of its details are these markings:
The first seems to indicate the wisps - nests, perhaps - but the shape of the second eludes me. Can you decipher it? Can’t recall whether our path lead toward or away from it.
PPS Speaking of, you can inherit my books, jewellery and anything else of mine you can find down in your cellar in the event of my untimely/ heroic death, by the way. You’re welcome.
An award-winning slow-burn romance about learning to let yourself grow.
On a long journey, two very different people thrown together by circumstance end up growing much closer than they expected.
Janek, a human cook who just wants to get back home to his old life, meets Chepi, a wandering fae healer haunted by memories of his past. As they get closer, they each find out there’s more to the other than meets the eye. But they're too different - it could never work between them... right?
