Underneath the moonlight, a night elf was in a hurry, she sprinted through the forest, anything in her way her, she cut it down with her glaive, she jumped and whirled past obstacles, the elf did her best to avoid the band of demons behind her. Her blade still fresh with blood and wounds visible through her light armor could be seen, the yellow scarf that covered her mouth for this cold Tadonian winter was the only thing that didn’t blend in with her purple skin, not as if it would help anyways as her eyes were already glowing a white neon constantly. She stopped atop the high branches of a tree for a quick break and a whisk of her flask, she swallowed a gulp of a cheap dark wine. She made sure to lick any left-over liquids off the edge before she topped it up, she was in such a hurry some of it stained her cotton white hair. After she had finished her drink, she looked over to the right and checked if the demons were advancing, to her dismay, they were eager to get to the last precious artifact of Humanity as much as she was, except they wanted to ensure it was destroyed, for what reason she didn’t know. She looked inside her pouch and looked at her knife, coated with a black poison, she didn’t want to waste it, so she broke off a hefty chunk of bark off the tree and hurled it back, the loud crack of a skull could be heard throughout the forest and vultures quickly travelled over to see if they had a meal. But the demons returned their fire, a volley of arrows could be heard flying throughout the air, one was about to hit her shoulder pad but she reacted quickly and hung from the branch, she climbed down the trunk of the tree with haste, and continued to sprint to her destination, she exited out the end of the forest and came across a wooden bridge positioned right above a moat of tar “Humans, who know they were so willing to get something done, even if it involved their own precious resources” the elf looked to the sides of the bridge and spotted swords and armor trapped, yet preserved from battles long past. “It’s effective, I’ll give them that… if only elves were that way, we need to cut down those so-called sacred trees that overpopulate our side of the damn country”.
She hopped on the edge of the bridge and quickly spreads chunks of a dry aqua moss over from her pouch on one of the ropes that supported the bridge before she quickly ran across it and hopped off the other side, she tried to avoid looking down as she crossed. She hooked her glaive onto cracks in the fortress wall and climbed to the other side before she turned around and looked through a set of golden binoculars, possibly stolen from an explorer. The demons were far behind, so she had enough time to find what it was she was after, if the last Human witches were correct, whatever she was after was cursed, and priceless, but she believed every curse could be broken. Just as the elf was about to jump over the edge she stumbled and realized the entire fort was hidden within the walls, with a giant pit in the middle to either confuse attackers or make them believe they had found an entirely different place. She her glaive in a scurrying manner on the edge of the stone walls that prevented her from falling to her death, “A pit garrison? I thought the demons destroyed these or repurposed them once they killed off the last strands of Humanity left in Tadona, and if they didn’t destroy this one, then there’s bound to be something of value down here” she smiled as she assured herself, she now received a slither of hope. She steadily positioned herself as to sheathe her glaive on her back before she climbed down slowly. For a few minutes, all was well, her Elven swiftness had allowed her to safely traverse the inside of the fortress fast and easy, her eyes have allowed her to see in the underground pit, however just as she was about to reach the end…her ears began to twitch as she heard a loud crack in the air, she sighed “I’m never going to get a break today, am I?” she positioned herself on a stone ledge and pulled her right arm above her, a shield extended from the vambrace on her arm, she put it up just in time, a series of red lightning strikes screeched past her with loud bangs, wind blew in her face but she put up her other arm, this made her sacrifice her balance, now only relying on her terrible posture, the lightning continued to barrater the insides of the pit and stones began to fall downwards, chunks of the debris hit her shield, she began to tremble at the impact as her feet nearly slipped off, she kept herself from falling with only one foot and as the lightning stopped striking, she looked up to see black clouds fading as the winter sky became visible again, she sighed in relief but noticed a rather large rock falling from above “oh come on!” she quickly put up her shield again but the impact from the last debris was enough to send her off balance, plummeting into the pit “Oh boy, this is how it ends isn’t it, I’m going to die a worthless scavenger! If only I could have brought back something incredibly nice and rare I would have enough money to buy my own land outside of my home realm and live quietly for once!” she began to get teary-eyed, but she didn’t realize her collar had been grappled by someone, and when she turned her sorrowful face to see her savior, it quickly turned to an expression of shock. For she had been caught, by a Human.
