Crowns Of Judgment

The light of the moon shined through the windows of a large fortress, bodies lay strewn across the bare earth and layers of rock upon its walls, the bodies of champions. Knights of the Grey Serpent, an order of elite Humans assigned to defend the realms of Tadona in the case of anything that could cause Ragnarok. Their spells, however, weren’t enough to protect them from the utter annihilation of Humanity, however, there is one left over after the Human cataclysm, deep within the fortress walls rested a being with the power of a Crimson Reign. The last witches burnt warned the demons that the Grey would return with the help of a force beyond their comprehension, the demons ignorantly ignored their warnings, they thought they could destroy whatever force opposed their campaign of subjugation, yet there was one problem they weren’t prepared for, how could you kill…Death itself?

“We’re here Niamir, your brother’s house is off the side of the horizon” a knight in silver armor looked over to another riding on horse-back, Niamir responded gracefully “Yes, it’s been quite some time since I’ve checked up on him and his wife, perhaps mother will convince him to come with us this time”, Niamir looked at the night sky as he raised his torch upwards to get a clear look at the moons. “Khonsul and Coyol are both full tonight” he spoke to his adversary, a couple of other knights who were also on Calvary took the moment to glance at the moons “Your nephew must be a special child to have been born on a night like this Niamir” one of his men chuckled from behind. They reached the bottom of the hill and saw a small house at the edge of a village, followed by a series of others like it, the details of the house could not be seen because it was too dark, “We’re here men” Niamir revealed they were at their destination, “Tesmin, tie the horses to the village out post, me, Layle and the others will be in the house marked by our sign” the knight to Niamir’s left nodded as they all got off their horses, the group walked towards the door, before entering, Niamir stood out the way and let Layle mark the house “Make it a temporary sign, don’t want to let the others know we were slacking off now do we?” Niamir chuckled, followed by the laughter of his other men, “Will do sir” Layle responded, he placed his gauntlet against the frame of the door, small particles of white energy gathered around the door frame followed by a small flash of light. Layle placed his gauntlet by his side once he was finished, on the door was now the insignia of a serpentine dragon encircling a white rose. “It’s your brother’s house sir, so it’s only respectful if we allow you to open the door” Layle bowed his head at Niamir and stepped out of the way to allow him to open the door “Well…here goes nothing” Niamir opened the door wide and saw his brother in the corner with the rest of his family, he could see him holding his wife’s hand and supporting his mother’s balance with his other arm, he couldn’t see his face, Niamir knew he was smiling. “Damn…I was late” He ran over to support the other side of his mother’s body, “Glad you could make it son” a woman with a wrinkled face looked up at him with a smile, quickly followed by a scowl “What did I tell you about the visor Niamir!” she snapped at him, “Oh! O-of course mother!” Niamir quickly flipped his visor upwards, revealing the face of a man with black hair and brown eyes, he looked a lot like his brother, except Niamir’s hair was shorter, “…. Neftin hasn’t said a word since my arrival” Niamir whispered to his mother “It’s understandable, but look at him Niamir, he hasn’t had a chance to let his child hold his own finger before you came, now he can hold his wife’s hand and his sons’ both at once, it’s a beautiful turn of events, now that you came, he can let you take care of me, while he tends to his wife and son” her words were full of understanding, with her response, Niamir looked at his brother’s face, tears rolled down it as he had a wide grin on his face while his wife was asleep from exhaustion, he was lucky. Women barely survived labor, let alone the child itself surviving as well, but he kept both things precious to him this night. “Did you name him?” Niamir questioned his brother, he looked at his nephew, he donned the same black hair as his uncle and father, though his eyes were not yet open. Niamir looked at the child with a sense of pride, he moved closer to the bed with his mother still under his arms, “May I?” Niamir looked at his brother, who gave a small nod, he leaned in to get a better look at his nephew, he was curled up in a rough cloth, between his mother’s arms, “It’s like as soon as she saw him, the pain just went away, and she finally earned her rest” Neftin spoke lowly as he pulled the cloth back to let his brother see his son. Niamir moved his gauntlet against his small hands, the child gripped one of his fingers, as soon as contact was made the child’s eyes opened wide, in a flash of gold light, Niamir had sudden visions run between his mind, a collection of bright marigolds falling from the sky, a lavender hand reaching for a yellow scarf, a sky raining a blackish blood like substance, and in the middle of Tadona’s great lake, stood a figure composed entirely of a lilac colored energy, they were floating in the middle of the lake, they had wings composed of energy as well, yet they were of a darker lavender tone, amongst the horizon stood a horde of terrible creatures, creatures of which Niamir had never seen before….The wings caught his attention more than anything else, wings that weren’t supposed to be seen in the mortal world, they were wings that belonged only to the Death Ravens, wings…of Fate.
