Excusez-moi? I must say that I object rather strongly to the absurd notion that pickles are "just" "slimy" cucumbers! While it is true that pickles are cucumbers and can, I suppose, be described as slimy, they are much more than that. There is a great amount of subtle flavor differences between pickle brands and varieties. While some pickles stick wholeheartedly to the fact that they are just cucumbers stuck in a bunch of vinegar for too long, many pickles add different ingredients to the mix as well, giving them distinct tastes. What's really unusual about pickles is their name. obviously it comes from the fact that they are pickled, but the title doesn't take into account the multitude of other fruits and vegetables that one can pickle as well. How is one supposed to know that the name "pickles" is referring to pickled cucumbers and not something like pickled onions? Sure, the word "pickle" is instantly associated with cucumbers, but the word itself technically contains nothing that indicates that! I demand more specificity in my nouns when they are based off of an adjective that can be applied to things outside of what the noun refers to!
