Death takes many forms.
You take a tentive step back, careful to not make any sudden movements. Hang on, we don't know if he's the real killer; he could be an actor, right? But you knew deep down that wasn't the case. There was a look in his eyes―one might compare it to that of a predator approaching his prey―that made a shiver go down your spine.
However, you wouldn't let that stop you. This was your chance; their chance. You wouldn't need to walk down the streets in fear of what went bump in the night. Then again, who could you trust in this mass of masqueraded people? You gulped at the terrifying thought.
The man took another step forward and chuckled. "Looks like I was found out, it seems. Fine time to have a party, considering-"
"Grab eggs," you say loud enough for anyone in the blue room to hear. After no response, you turn and yell, "Grab some fucking eggs and throw them!" You didn't bother to listen to his petty remarks, instead grabbing hold of a bunch of eggs and throwing them at him right in the eyes along with the others. Turns out they weren't eggs. They were paperweights.
"Shit!" the mysterious man yelled, crouching down and covering his eyes.
You sprint to the skeleton across the room and rip it's arm bones out, lunging at the potential killer's head until he went unconscious. Despite the desperate situation, you knew how hard a blow you needed to give him in order to knock him out cold but not kill him.
"Now then," you said between panting breaths, "who's next?"
"What? You're kidding. We got the guy! There can't be more than one killer." Your friend stared at you with wide, panicky eyes, like a deer caught in headlights.
"Isn't it obvious? We've been tracking the killer for months. Why would he suddenly pop in after all this time in hiding? To kill a bunch of kids?" You laughed at the preposterous idea. "If that's the case, then think, why didn't he kill us before? I bet there's someone else in charge; someone who paid this guy to act as a decoy in order to ease out of suspicion. Who else would it be, other than the one who brought the skeleton in?"
"What the hell? I bet you set this all up to look like some hero!" A girl stepped forward, gesturing towards the limp body.
"Hm, then tell me this doesn't feel like it was just ripped out of someone's body hours ago." You tossed the bone at the girl, hoping she was a good catcher. "No one bothered to notice, but the skeleton reeks of blood and grime."
A smirk cracks your mask of nonchalance. "Thanks to it being in the Halloween section, it was successfully ignored. But I know the culprit. I saw them bring in the skeleton from who-knows-where. It's none other than―"
Slow clapping halted your words. "Bravo. Quite the smart cookie we have here, huh?" You knew that voice. It was...
