Leon was leaning against the wall.
"-and I just don't understand her, like at all," Charlie was talking to him, but Leon was not fully paying attention. He brought the bottle to his lips and took a small sip. He did not know how many he had, but one thing he knew for sure was that Reese was having no luck with Allysa.
Instead of listening to sober Charlie, he was watching a bored Allysa listening to Reese. She shrugged his arm off of her and stood from the sofa. Reese rubbed the back of his neck and stood from the sofa. Leon thought he was going after her but instead he walked over to Leon and Charlie.
"What happened, man?" Charlie asked him.
"I guess I'm not as good with the ladies as I thought I was," Reese sighed.
"Aren't you going to go after her?" Leon asked.
"What for? She already said she wasn't interested. I can't make her like me," Reese said, "anyway, what's happening with Emma? You haven't said a word to her."
"You can't make me like her," Leon took another sip of beer.
"You haven't even tried getting to know her. How do you know if you like her or not?" Charlie said.
Leon shrugged.
"C'mon, man, Emma is cute and probably nice," Charlie said.
"You guys play soccer, right!" a drunk girl stumbled in front of them, "you guys are so hot." The girl threw herself on Charlie, "so hot." Charlie went stiff and looked at Leon and Reese for help.
"I'm so sorry," her friend rushed over, "Lizzie, you can't be doing this. I think you've had enough."
"I don't think you've had enough. Stop killing my vibe," the girl pointed at her friend and poked her on the cheek.
"I'm taking you back to the dorms," her friend tried prying her off Charlie but "Lizzie" would not let go.
"Can you please help me take her to my car?" the friend whispered to Charlie with an apologetic face.
"Yeah, of course," Charlie picked up Lizzie and started walking towards the door. Lizzie started laughing as she held onto Charlie.
The sound of broken glass came from the kitchen.
Reese cursed under his breath, "I'll be back. Gotta check on that. Why don't you look for Emma?"
Suddenly, Leon was alone. He then had the sudden urge to urinate. Emma could wait. He looked at the restroom down the hallway and saw a line of girls waiting. He really did not want to go outside but he was not about to wait in line. He thought there might be a restroom upstairs. He made his way to the staircase, brushing by people enjoying the party.
He finally reached the staircase and started walking upstairs. This was when he really felt the effects of the alcohol. When did his legs become so hard to control? Why were they so heavy? As he neared the top, he started hearing two people arguing.
"Don't touch me!"
"C'mon, babe."
"Get away!"
"Stop being a fucking tease."
"Stop!"
Leon stopped walking. This sounded serious. It felt like a cloud was lifted from his mind and he suddenly felt sober. He dropped his beer bottle and started running up the stairs.
"Get away from her!" Leon yelled to an empty hallway. He looked around, where did they go?
He heard a scream come from one of the bedrooms.
He threw the door open and saw a shirtless man on top of a girl on the bed. He ran and grabbed the man. He threw him on the floor.
He turned to the girl who was covering her bare chest. She was crying and her mascara was running down her face. Her brown hair that barely touched her shoulders was frizzed and messy. Her green eyes were looking down, ashamed.
"...Emma."
Something hit Leon on the back of his head and he fell forward. The shirtless man picked him up and pinned him against the wall, choking him.
His eye sight was darkening and he could hear Emma screaming at the man to let him go.
Behind the man, he thought he saw a flash of purple.
Leon could feel his lips smiling.
Did Cece finally come back to save him?
Leon lost consciousness.
.
.
.
Leon was not sure where he was. It was dark and he could not see a thing beside himself. He was standing up, looking around him as if he would find a clue of his location.
In the distance, he thought he saw a purple animal on all fours, but as fast as it came, it vanished.
"Please come back," he fell to his knees and held onto his head. He started sobbing.
"I don't want to be alone," he said.
He felt fur rub against his back. When he looked up, he saw a purple tiger. The tiger was purring and rubbed his head against Leon.
"I know you," Leon hesitantly reached for the tiger's head.
The tiger continued purring.
"I called you Fluffy, right," Leon started petting the tiger, "you used to watch over me when she wasn't there."
The tiger looked at him with deep purple eyes.
"I remember you being much bigger," Leon said.
"That's because you were much smaller," a voice said behind him.
He quickly turned around and there she was.
Memories suddenly started appearing all around him. A swing set. The cemetery. Cecilia laughing. A younger Leon ridding a purple tiger like a horse. The memories then became darker and he saw his reoccurring nightmare. A demon who was dressed in all black fighting Cece. A blast of black light hitting him. Sillie dead with out eyes.
He was not able to say goodbye, to any of them. When he woke up that day, he was all alone.
He started crying as he watched his memories. Cecilia was standing over him. She looked the same, as if she did not age a day since the last time he saw her.
The only difference was she was in all black and her hair was longer.
"What happened?" His voice was hoarse as he spoke.
She bent down and touched his face. She tucked his bangs behind his ear so she could see his blind eye.
"I don't have enough time to explain," she said, "you'll be waking up soon."
"Where did you go?" He asked her.
She smiled sadly, "I didn't go anywhere. You just couldn't see me anymore."
She pulled him in for a tight hug, "I didn't go anywhere."
He held onto her, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you, too," she wanted to hold him forever but she could feel him fading.
"Will I see you again?" He asked.
"You need to open your mind in order to see me, my child," she said. He started becoming translucent.
"I don't want to go," he started panicking as he looked at his disappearing body.
"Shhhh, calm down. You're going to be fine," she stroked his hair in an effort to calm him.
.
.
.
"I think he's coming to," the voice came from Reese.
When Leon opened his eyes, he saw Reese and Charlie kneeling over him.
"M-monster," he heard come from the other side of the room.
"I told you to get his ass out of here!" Reese yelled.
"We're trying. He won't stop rambling about a monster," Brian said.
"Where is she..." Leon rubbed his head.
"Emma is downstairs with Allysa," Reese said.
Leon was talking about Cecilia but he should probably check up on Emma, too. Leon tried standing up but the pressure in his head was too much and Reese had to support him.
"Fuck," Reese said, "I think he has a concussion."
"We should take him to the hospital so they can fix that," Charlie said.
"He has to be able to play on Saturday," Reese said, "Coach will be pissed if he doesn't play."
"Coach won't find out," Charlie said, "c'mon let's put him in the car."
Reese picked him up and carried him bridal style. Leon would have laughed at this but the situation was pretty serious and his head felt as if it was being stepped on by that large gray animal he had read about, an elephant, he believed it was called.
Reese made it down the stairs. A girl ran up to them, it was Allysa.
"Thank you! Than you!" she repeated over and over.
Leon waved her off, "it was no problem. Really."
Emma was siting on the couch, surrounded by a blockade of females, but Leon could see glimpses of her.
"I hope she's okay," Leon said.
"She will be, because of you," Allysa said.
Leon started becoming tired, "mmm that's good." He was barely able to get the words out. His eye lids were too heavy to keep up.
"No, no. You have to keep your eyes open, buddy," he heard Charlie say, "hurry up, get him in the car."
He tried really hard to keep his eyes open.
He saw the car door open and Reese put him inside.
"Stay back there with him," Charlie yelled, "buckle him in!"
"I'm on it! Don't yell at me!" Reese yelled back.
"Boths of yous. Shutup," Leon slurred. Leon's head leaned backwards and Reese had to fix it.
"Shit. Shit. Shit," Reese was saying over and over again under his breath.
Leon looked out the window as Charlie drove. He could have sworn he saw Cece riding Fluffy next to them. She looked so majestic. Her hair was flowing behind her. He wanted to reach out and touch it.
He pointed to the window and said, "look."
"What is it?" Reese started looking out the window, "I don't see anything."
"A woman is riding a purple tiger," Leon said.
"Oh shit, Charlie. He's hallucinating," Reese said.
"That's not good," Charlie said.
