Vincent raised his hand slapping Atreyu across his face down, pushing him to his knee. All the students looked up from their phones and class work. They all got antsy like watching the climax in a movie. The teacher had her legs crossed lay on the table looking up from her magazine. She realized the situation and stood up from her desk.
“Oh, that’s not good. We might have another dead student on our hands.”
Atreyu quickly gazed laughing maniacally grabbing his case and at an instant, he leaped upwards knocking Vincent’s smug face to the ground. The only thing Vincent could do was facially be in shock that he could move so fast. Atreyu’s movements were in a blur. Vincent started to leak a small gash of blood from his head. His body bumped into the door and slammed to the ground on his back. Atreyu pounced on his chest, squashing the air from Vincent’s lungs. He was shaking nervously as his body was trembling lifeless on the floor sweating bullets. He leaned his mouth close to whisper in his ear.
“Tell me something Vincent; if I’m a demon, do you mind if I take your soul back to Dante’s Inferno while I’m at it?” Atreyu whispered.
Vincent started to cry and panic trying to move away from him, but could not free himself. Atreyu’s grip was tight while adding more pressure to Vincent’s wrists. His wrists were loosely wrangled and bloodshot red. The teacher stepped around the two boys and dropped her magazine trying to persuade Atreyu to stop from going any further. She spoke nervously while still trying to delegate.
“Atreyu please stop! We don’t need another accident like last year, also it’s a waste to fight, now think of what you’re doing!”
“Fine”. Atreyu blurted viciously.
Vincent stood back up maneuvering fearfully and remained speechless in tears shaking to stand back up. He ran outside covering his face from embarrassing quantity of tears pouring down his face with a light trail of blood droplets behind him. Atreyu returned to his seat acting as if nothing ever happened. The students continue to stare in shock that the quiet kid in their class could fight so barbaric and resume to such a calm nature. Atreyu looked back at them bugged that people keep staring.
“What! Do any of you got a problem with me!”
Everyone looked back down simultaneously in fear to give a response. After the whole fiasco he kept getting stares throughout the entire day. When lunch time came, everyone went to the cafeteria eating artificial school burgers. The burgers were so unnatural and disgusting that when students would hold them they would slowly turn into grey mush. Atreyu knew better, he was smart enough to bring lunch from home inside his duffel bag. As he ate his food, people started to whisper and comment about him as he stuffed his face with his food from home thinking that they were judging him while he ate.
“What? Y’all have never someone eat fried sushi before? Fuck off it’s my meal!”
At the end of the school day, the final school bell rang. Some students have left to their buses while approximately ninety percent of the school including teachers. Everyone hoarded together for the biggest event of the school year. They all arrive to the back of the school beyond the separate inactive sports stadiums. The only thing to witness was a barren lifeless dirt field fenced in by bleachers and a forty foot tall circled lane of metal pipes sealed in green wire fencing. There were smooth stones of earth protruding from the ground rising like tombstones. The tombstones were finely coiled by short bright yellow flowered weeds with ragged sharp leaves.
