The College Student’s Story
My name is Lee Nari. I'm currently 19 and in my first year of college. Currently, I'm going through a rough patch, and need to find a job. I was in the middle of walking down the street when suddenly I saw a flyer.
"The Book Jar. Looking for part timer. Please come to 67XX-XXXXXX or call XX-XXX-XXXX"
Just my luck! That place was just around the corner! But it's so late, looking down at my watch I realized that it was almost 10 pm. They might be closed...Still I had to take my chance!
I ran all the way to the store and quickly opened the door to see a surprised youngish looking guy. I leaned forward to catch my breath before standing back up.
"Excuse me, are you still hiring?" I quickly bowed to the guy, sincerely hoping he was the owner.
"Um....Yes we are. It's very late, did you run here?"
"AH yes! Sorry for the inconvenience! I was just so worried that you had already found someone!" I stood back up to that there was another tall guy standing behind the first.
"How about you come in for a test run and we can get everything straightened out if you do well?" The taller guy spoke with a slight accent. He was giving me a chance!!
"Ah yes, that's a good idea Yoshiki! Besides we are really desperate and I don't want to bother with anymore interviews honestly." The younger guy smiled gently, he seemed very nice.
"Thank you so much! Oh! my name is Lee Nari! What time should I come here tomorrow?"
"Um come here at 6 am since its the weekend. I'm assuming you are a student? As for introductions, I'm Kim Yeong. The guy behind me is Matsumoto Yoshiki. He is in charge of the café here, and I'm the main owner of the actual bookstore."
"Yes I am a student, and I'll make sure to be here right on time!" I bowed once again and apologized for the inconvenience again before starting to head out. I was so happy to have gotten a chance! Who would've guessed! They must have been desperate to just hire someone like that though. I started my walk home, and soon the first drops of rain had hit me a few steps out of the door. Quickly, the rain became a downpour and I ducked under a nearby awning to get some shelter. Man what luck did I have! Get one nice thing, get twice the bad luck back. Ah well, this wasn't so bad. Soon I found myself starting to admire the rain when someone cleared their voice next to me.
Startled I turned around to find a tallish guy standing next to me, closing the door to the shop I was standing in front of. His hair was chin length, kind of shaped to create a nice look, sort of like the messy guy hair in the manhwa I used to read, well still do. He had really delicate features, and pale skin, palest I had seen a guy have before. In other words, he was beautiful. I turned away quickly before he noticed I was looking at him though.
"Excuse me, miss. Would you like to come inside the store? I mean I'm closing up, but it seems the rain won't be stopping for awhile." He suddenly spoke, his voice calm and deep. I turned back to face him, and realized he now was facing towards me, his mouth turned up slightly into a gentle smile.
"Ah, sure. Thank you so much!" I bowed slightly. He opened the door for me and followed me inside. I was hit with the overwhelming scent of flowers, this definitely was a flower shop. It was so beautiful how the flowers were placed around everywhere. In the corner, there was a small table with some chairs. Must be for customers that waited for their arrangements. The table and chairs were made with metal, and had an intricate vine and flower design. I was in love with this store, and for it to be right next to the bookstore made me incredibly happy. Although I didn't buy flowers, I might just start to, just to see this store more.
"Do you want tea or coffee? I also have some pastries from the café in the bookstore next door if you would like some!"
"Oh thank you, you don't have to do that. But If you insist, some tea would be nice!" I sat down and stared out the window as he smiled brightly and went into the back to warm up water for the tea. He seemed really nice and pleasant. I wonder why he is the only person here right now though. Also why did I just walk in here?? Normally I would be very wary of strangers, in fact this amount of one on one talking was definitely something I did not do often. He seemed innocent enough, maybe that was the reason. Soon I started to zone out while watching the rain.
