Natalie Nightingale, the "tragi-comedian" as she was called. Oh, she made people of all ages, genders, ethnicities and nationalities laugh. For that, she could be praised.
The Night In Gale, her magnum opus. As it was scheduled, to-day would be her debút. Although the old woman'd been an actress for many years, to-night she'd at last tackle her par chance in the opera business.
She stepped on stage, her gallant night-dark but shiny dress empowered her. She'd give her maximum. Just as she had practised.
Natalie opened her mouth, and - She drew her vocal chords to the limit and beyond. A beautiful symphony escaped her mouth's rims.
"The Night In Gale, thou hast called,
it answered thee, with an unforeseen cry.
Shouldest thee have what thou wished,
O willeth it answer thy voice,
blessed be thee, although unsung.
The saddening tale,
of The Night In Gale."
As Natalie recited her known-by-heart melody - The Night In Gale - giggles escaped from somewhere in the audience. Well, then she would sing louder! Muffle the bloody pests producing such annoyances. Had to be a child.
But it was counter-productive, the giggles loudified, and now were coming from everywhere there was a seat.
She sang, distracted she missed some notes here and there.
The giggles turned into full-blown laughter. Laughter turned into mockery.
She would have none of this! She sang louder! Ignorant fools, animals in suits! This is an Opera!
And at last, she finished her sublime performance.
The public clapped, but yet they laughed. Enraged with such hypocritical behaviour, Natalie raged out of the stage. None of this! Thoroughly humiliated I!
Little did she know the papers would not tire of he!. Nor would the average Joe! She wanted to be revered, not looked at as a circus attraction! She would end this! She would take revenge on the public, and those damn papers shall suffer as much as I did!
Her decision was as extreme as effective. Upon her death - suicide - In her will she blamed the papers and the public. Soon after, the most flashy newspapers went into financial ruin due to poor sales, in no time, laughing at Natalie Nightingale had become taboo.
Although without a say, from that day on, Natalie's career had come to a halt.
The curtains were shut, settling the scorn.
The lore of the Night In Gale would sing no more.
Natalie Nightingale committed suicide by hanging, at age 75.
