THE NAMELESS SHADOWS

BLACKSMITHING

BLACKSMITHING

Jun 30, 2018

The capital was a place where many people buy their necessities, even people from the town. Alex hurried to a blacksmith and shouted, "Joe! I'm here for what I asked for sometime ago! "

The blacksmith, Joe, was around the same age as Alex but was a blacksmith and not a waiter at a bar. They tend to talk about the future when they had their day off. Joe came out, a little shorter than Alex, and surprisingly strong for his age.

Joe raised an eyebrow at Alex's pouch, "When did you get so rich? "

"I work... " Alex replied.

Joe shrugged, sat down and counted the coins in Alex's pouch. It took Alex four whole years to save up three thousand coins. While Joe took out coins from Alex's bottomless bag, he heard Alex's stomach grumble.

Joe sighed and asked if Alex had eaten dinner. Alex smiled sheepishly, trying terribly not to go under Joe' debt. Joe sighed and put Alex's bag in his back pocket. "Let's get something to eat, my treat. "

Alex beamed and followed Joe into town. They were heading towards a small shop when they saw a crowd. Apparently, some people got into a fight, Joe and Alex quickly moved on.

The shop was bright with a festive feel in the air. Joe had ordered a roast ham for the both of them using 2 of Alex's coins. The place was just a long table with benches on one side so that customers could get their food delivered once it was ready.

After eating, they went back to Joe's shop to end the day. Joe heated up a block of metal. While heating it up, Joe complained, "I could have made a bigger fortune if I had sold this anti-metal to someone else. Oh well. "

When the anti-metal finished heating up, he hammered it over and over again until it resembled a thin blade. He repeated this process for the second blade. Joe cooled both of them down, attached them to handles and put them in their sheathe.

"Here you go. " Joe said and reluctantly gave the two blades to Alex.

The straps were supposed to be tied to his back, but Alex strapped it to his waist instead for easier sneak attacks in the future. Just like that, Alex went back to his shack feeling more accomplished than ever

Just a normal fantasy story with a normal protagonist with a normal tragic backstory. Confused yet? Well, just read as Alex (not AL3X) tries to achieve his completely normal dream.
