Mason could see the gears turning in Will's head, trying to process everything he had said and trying not to freak out with Banehound in the room.
"Hey," Banehound said, "if it makes you feel any better, I've already eaten today so you don't have to worry about me eating you."
That seemed to have somewhat calmed Will down, but Mason still sat with him rubbing his back in a comforting manner until the blonde finally spoke, "So... let me get this straight... You have to kill people to feed him otherwise he'll eat you all because he can't leave the house since fifty years ago when the owner knew how to trap him?"
"Yeah, that's right, unfortunately... I never wanted to get you involved and I didn't want to lose you, but if you want to break up with me, I understand, just don't tell anyone about this." Mason said sadly.
"Mason, I would never leave you. I'll stick with you through this. Hell, I may even help you if it means I can stay with you and keep you safe!"
Mason was at a loss for words. He couldn't believe Will would offer to help him kill people. He had to make sure he was really willing to do this, "You don't have to help me, Will. The least I want you to do is be here for me. I don't want you getting blood on your hands."
"It's too late for that..."
"W-what..?"
"Remember Arthur Berry from high school?"
"The kid who jumped off the bridge? Will, I don't get what you're saying."
"It wasn't suicide... I killed him. I was drunk, there was a broken glass at one point, Arther said some unkind things about you, I stabbed him, and I threw him off the bridge along with the glass. That river was so polluted at the time that the cops thought when he 'jumped' the garbage in the river impaled him..."
Mason heard Banehound howl with laughter. He ignored him but was dumbfounded by this new information. Will had killed before and he never got caught or was a suspect because they believed it was a suicide. If Mason was like how he was in high school, he probably would've dumped Will, but seeing as what he's going to be doing, also since that incident was several years ago, he could let it slide. He leaned forward and gave his boyfriend a sweet kiss. When he pulled away, Will grabbed Mason's shirt and tugged him back into the kiss. Mason heard Banehound groan, "Ugh, I'm not all about this lovey-dovey shit, so I'll just be in the basement sleeping." The sound of the basement door closing went through the house.
Mason felt Will's grip loosen, so he pulled back again and just looked at Will's blue eyes and his fluffy sandy blonde hair. He smiled and Will smiled right back at him. Mason was happy that his boyfriend would help him with such a terrible thing. He truly loves Will with all his heart, he doesn't know what he'd do without him. He decided he should ask him, "Hey, you know I had a surprise for you too."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, I wanted to ask you if you would like to move in with me."
"That... that'd be great! Oh, Mason, I'd love to move in with you!" Will leaped out of his seat and hugged Mason, "I'm gonna have to go pack then, oh wait most of it already is! I never unpacked my bag from the trip, so I already have a month's worth of clothes ready to go. Just a few little things."
"You want to stay the night, before you go get your things?"
"Heh, sure thing Mason jar. And since I'll be staying here for tonight and I've been away from you for so long, how about we find out how deep of a sleeper uhh... Banehound is. That is his name right?"
Mason laughed lightly with a blush dusting his face and nodded his head. Will pulled Mason to the bedroom and Mason knew it was only about one in the afternoon, but he really wanted this.
After a few hours, Will really dragged it out saying something about making up for lost time, they just laid in bed; clothes sprawled around the room and the bed sheets were a complete mess. The two of them were just cuddling when Banehound almost broke down the bedroom door, tail twitching vigorously, ears flat against his head, eyes narrow, and teeth bearing. Both men sat up in fright as the beast stomped closer to them then stopped.
Mason was going to ask him what he was doing, but the words stopped in his throat when Banehound gripped his and Will's necks with his large hands and growled out, "Did you two have fun? I sure didn't! You two woke me from my nap two hours ago!" Banehound gripped tighter, "If it wasn't for the deal you and I made, little Birdie, I would crush both of your throats right here, right now and maybe just tear you apart, not even eat you, just rip each limb off one by one and cut open your chests and play with your hearts like cat toys so that I can have my own fun. So don't. Do. It. Again." He let go of them, the two men gasping for air, and stomped out of the room.
Mason thought he was going to die, despite the deal he made with the spirit beast. He took a breath of nice air and said, "I'm so sorry you were dragged into this, Will... like I said before y-you can l-leave if you want..."
"No," Will put his hand on Mason's shoulder, "I'm not going to leave. You know what, here's what we'll do." Mason watch Will get out of bed and stood in front of him as he continued, "So about this whole thing with Banehound and the deal you made with him. We should know more about what he is, like yeah I learned quite a bit at the expo, but that's not enough. We need to know his behavioral pattern, like know his body language and stuff like that. Not only that, we need to think of a plan on how we're gonna kill people."
"Are we seriously going to talk about that now?"
"Yes, we are. Because whoever Banehound ate before I got here is going to be digested at some point and he's going to be hungry again. So, instead of just murdering random people, we need to be careful, so I've been watching a lot of Santa Clarita Diet and I think we should kind of do what they do."
"What do they do? I haven't seen this show."
"Well, they make sure to kill bad people, and try their best to see if they have any immediate social links in the area."
"Kill bad people, huh?"
"Yup."
"How will we know they're bad?"
"I guess you just kinda know? I mean you seem to have like a sixth sense when it comes to bad people like in high school, you got me out of a bad friendship and again in middle school. So I'm pretty sure you of all people will know a bad person when you see them."
"I guess you're right. We have some time before Banehound is finished with that last meal he had so we can start with the research."
