Day 10

Dear Diary,

It's been a few days. The wind is currently blowing pretty strong. You're probably wondering why I haven't written to you. I guess I should tell you what I've been doing.

So, I ran out of food somehow, even though I barely eat. I went scavenging through the houses next to my current base. I call it a base, even though it's just the least ruined house in the village. Anyway, I couldn't find any food, probably because I already took and ate everything edible, so I had to go to a another village. I took all the items I could carry and headed to the next village. I had, and still have, a few layers of clothing on myself because of the strong winds and high snow. I didn't actually know in which direction I had to go to, I just knew from which direction I came. So I headed what I assumed was north and hoped for the best. Now that I look back, I probably should have headed a different way.

I found another village after a day of walking, however, that village had already been ransacked. There was no food, no clothing, nothing of any use, but I was tired and cold, so I entered a house, made myself as warm as I could, and took a nap to get some energy back. Once I woke up, I kept going to the next village in the hopes of finding something useful there. As I was walking, I heard wolves howl. The howls peaked my interest, as I didn't know we had wolves in my local area. To be fair, after the years of walking, I don't think I am in my local area anymore. I had to be cautious, the wolves were probably as hungry, or hungrier than I was.

I almost fell through ice. Well, I say almost, but I honestly barely even touched it. It didn't even crack a lot when I stepped on  it. But it did scare me. Now I'm laughing thinking abou it. It was a dumb thing to be scared about. I've had worse things happen, or almost happen for that to be something to be worried about.

I hadn't slept for two or three days. I just kept walking and walking. I slipped a few times. I think I might have dislocated something. I can't really feel much because of the cold, so I'm not sure. I did finally find a town, or village, don't know. Either way, I found a town, so I'm happy. I did find a market and enough food to keep me going for a few days, but I won't be able to stay here for long.

I'm currently in a very compact sovietesque housing block. It's sort of warmish in here. I'm glad I've finally got the time to talk you again, but I'm honestly a bit tired, so I'll head off for a nap. Have a good night, dearest diary.

Hmmm...Was that "after years of walking" a slip of the pen, or something more? Especially since this is supposed "Day 10?" Btw, if my musings are bothering you or anything, please do let me know and I'll stop. I tend to be suspicious of things like this because it is intriguing.

Dear Diary,

how did this happen? One day, it was the middle of summer and everyone and everything was boiling. Next, boom. You could say everyone and everything was boiling again, but this time the boiling process was a bit quicker. It's been a few years, don't remember how many. All I know is that I'm alone and cold. Well, not totally alone, I have you.
