I am sweating and breathing quickly. What kind of dream was that? It seemed more like a lecture or a presentation rather than a dream. I continue pondering what just happened as I get ready for the day. What that a message of some sorts or a poem? I ponder many more questions as I eat breakfast and leave the house for school.
I am so occupied with what happened yesterday and the dream that I don’t notice Heather until I am suddenly poked in the back. I quickly freak out and look behind me to see her laughing like hyena.
“That was amazing! You should have seen your jump and face! Hahahahahahaha!”
“Yeah, yeah Heather, soooo funny.”
She continues to laugh as we start our stroll to the school. It kind of irks me that she laughs this much about scaring me. Once she settles down, she starts to ask about the house.
“So, Cameron, did you go to the house? What was in there? Anything of value?”
“Whoa there, one question at a time please? I can’t answer that much that quickly ok? I was only able to hear the first question, yes I did go to the house.”
“Okay then, second question, what was in there?”
“There was a lot of furniture in the house along with swords, armor-“
“Wait, swords?! Why did my grandpa have swords in the house?”
“Don’t ask me… there was also a lot of books in the library. There was even some in a language I have never seen before.”
“I don’t want to hear about your escapades with old books. Anything else?”
“Yes, and this one is the kicker! There is a shiny blue stone archway on the second floor with some… well, I’d have to show you for you to understand.”
There would be no way that Heather would believe that the archway was a portal to another place. She would most likely label me as crazy or that I am joking with her. I would have to show her what happens for her to understand.
“A stone archway, on the second floor? Isn’t that a bit inconvenient?”
“It is! I’m as confused as you are about it. Do you want personally look at the place after school or are you busy with something like yesterday?”
“Sure! I’m free today, sorry about yesterday though, most of the teachers needed help with the new system that the school set up. I’m getting extra credit in their classes for my assistance!”
“Cool, then do you want to meet at the house?”
“Sure, that sounds good! I’ll see you then!”
We are you arriving at the school when she says that.
“Yeah, I’ll see you then.”
We part ways and head to our respective classrooms. During the classes I have a hard time paying attention to what is going on. Change that, an even harder time since I get extremely bored during the classes and go into la la land. Even during lunch, when I am the most awake at school and have the opportunity to talk to Heather, my mind wanders.
School ends on a dull note and I basically dash out of the building, get on my bike and head to the old house. I get quite impatient with how long it takes to get to the house as I start tapping my fingers on the handles of the bike. I then arrive at the house at wait for Heather at the gate. Around 15 minutes pass and she finally arrives, slowly making her way up the gravel path.
“How long have you been waiting here Cameron?”
“Around 10 to 15 minutes I guess.”
She gets off her bike and looks at the stone wall and fence.
“Damn, this place is old. Does the inside look as old as the outside?”
“I think it’s better to say that the inside looks like the aftermath of a brawl. Come on I’ll show you everything.”
