The house looked very crowded and the music was so loud that it shook the walls and windows. Drunk teens danced to the music as they held cups filled with alcohol. This was never been Mackenzie's scene. She would much rather be at home, watching as movie with her friends.
Mackenzie got out of the car. She was wearing a crop top which had different patterns and colours over it and dark denim jeans with black heels. Her hair was loosely curled and she wore very little make up. She wasn't here to impress anyone. She was here to stop Evie from doing something she would regret.
As she and Grace made their way into the house, Mackenzie's phone began to ring and Isaac's caller Id appeared on the screen.
"Hello?" Mackenzie answered.
"Hey, Evie has already left, are you there yet?" He asked
"Yeah I'm here, Grace and I will keep a look out for her." Mackenzie said as her eyes scanned across the sea of people still arriving at the party.
"Okay, I'm leaving now, I'll call you when I get there." Isaac said, then hung up.
Mackenzie looked at Grace with concern.
"Isaac said that Evie has already left. She could be here already." Mackenzie explained.
The two walked towards the house and went inside. The music made it hard for them to hear each other.
A tipsy Josh approached the two girls.
"We should split up!" Grace shouted over the music.
"I'll take the house, you keep a look out outside, text me if you find her." Mackenzie instructed.
Grace left to go outside, while Mackenzie wandered around the house. Evie could easily attack any of these people, especially because most of them were very intoxicated. Therefore making them much more vulnerable.
Mackenzie entered the living room and saw Thomas walking through the crowd of people. She ran towards him, pushing her way through the drunk teens, not taking her eyes from him once. Then suddenly, he disappeared within the crowd.
"Crap" She muttered.
He was playing games and Mackenzie knew all too well that he was already one step in front of her.
She took out her phone and text Grace and Isaac about Thomas' unwelcome appearance.
Suddenly, there was a light tap on Mackenzie's shoulder. She looked up from her phone and turned around to see Evie. Her eyes widened in shock as well as relief. She was shocked to see Evie standing in front her but was relieved that she had killed nobody.
"Hi!" She exclaimed.
"Hey Evie. Are you sure you're okay to be here at the minute? I mean your still getting used to the whole..." Mackenzie began.
"Kenzie, please don't worry about me. I'm here with a friend. He promised to take care of me." She smiled.
Mackenzie heart dropped. Of course she was talking about Thomas. She could only begin to imagine the lies that Thomas had fed her to make her like him.
"And w...who is your friend?" Mackenzie questioned, already knowing the answer.
"His name is Thomas. He's a vampire too. He's really nice, I should introduce you to him." Evie said, rambling on over the music. "Oh and I forgot to mention he's really good looking too." Evie said giggling at the end.
Mackenzie pulled a face as she swooned over Thomas. It was gross.
"I've actually met him before. He-"
Evie cut Mackenzie off, as she looked down at her phone.
"Sorry Kenz, you're gonna have to hold that thought." She said, smiling at her phone, then putting it into her jeans pocket. "Thomas needs me." She smiled, beginning to get giddy.
Evie strutted Mackenzie, snatching the drink that another kid was holding and began to drank it as she walked away.
Mackenzie ran after her and grabbed Evie's wrist, stopping her.
"You can't go with him, he's dangerous." Mackenzie pleaded.
"What is wrong with you?" Evie said in anger as she snatched her wrist from Mackenzie, storming off.
Mackenzie sighed, placing her hand on her forehead. What was she going to do now?
As the room began to fill up with more people, bodies began to push and shove Mackenzie die about as they danced to the music. Mackenzie pushed her way through everyone, making her way back to the front door, to go outside and look for Grace.
She stepped outside, instantly feeling a lot cooler at the breeze hit her face. She walked further out into the front garden until her arm was grabbed, spinning her around to face Isaac.
"There you are." He smiled.
His smiled faded as he saw the frown on Mackenzie's face. "Hey, is everything okay?"
"Didn't you get my text?" Mackenzie asked.
Isaac shook his head, taking his phone out.
"I was just talking to Evie. Thomas here to. Their here with each other." Mackenzie explained, before Isaac could click into the text message.
"We need to get Evie out of here now. Where did she go?" Isaac asked.
"To find Thomas."
Isaac and Mackenzie entered the house one again and followed the direction in which Evie walked in.
"She might have went outside?" Isaac suggested, pointing towards the double doors that lead to the patio.
A cup was shoved into Isaacs face as they walked towards the doors and he knocked it out of the persons hand. He was just as anxious as Mackenzie was. A new vampire has no self control. No matter how much they think that they can fight the urge, they can't. Isaac was just praying that he could make it to Evie before she made a mistake that she would regret for the rest of eternity.
"There she is!" Isaac said, pointing towards the end of the garden, where Evie lead Josh behind the large garden shed, out of site.
"Come on!" Mackenzie said, running straight into someone.
She looked up to see Thomas smirking down at her.
"Oops, was I in your way?" Thomas smirked, revealing blood on his teeth.
His lips were also covered in blood and the veins in his eyes were a deep red. However he had no fangs.
"Thomas go help Josh." Mackenzie demanded.
Isaac ran past Thomas, only to get grabbed by the jumper and slammed to the ground. Thomas held his hands to Isaacs throats, making him gasp for air.
"Stop it! You're hurting him!" Mackenzie screamed.
"Do you want a turn love?" Thomas asked through gritted teeth, pressing his thumbs tighter against Isaacs neck as he tried to pry his hands away.
"Go." Isaac gasped.
Mackenzie pulled her eyes away from Isaac and Thomas as she looked down towards the bottom of the garden, where the shed was. She began running towards the shed. For all she knew, Josh could already be dead!
Time felt like it had slowed down and even though Mackenzie ran as fast as she could, it seemed as though it didn't make any difference to the distance between herself and the shed.
Finally, she got to the back of the shed and saw Evie with Josh pinned against the wooden wall. Her face was tucked into Josh neck as she drained his veins of blood. Droplets of blood soaked through Josh blue shirt as he willingly stood, slowly Evie to slowly kill him. Evie must have deceived him. Mackenzie shoved Evie from Josh, making him fall limp to the ground.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Evie yelled.
"Evie this isn't you! You can control this!" Mackenzie said.
"I wouldn't have to control it if you had of just told me you couldn't go for coffee. You're the reason I'm like this. I'm a killer now and it's my nature to feed on humans. I'm a predator." She said, a growl escaping his mouth as she licked her lips, savouring the remaining drops of Josh's blood.
"Evie listen to me. Isaac can help you. Don't let Thomas plant ideas in your head, he's not a good person!" Mackenzie said.
Anger grew more and more over Evie's face. She grabbed Mackenzie, pinning her against the shed wall, just like she did with Josh.
She took a long sniff of Mackenzie as a smile grew on her face.
"Thomas was right, you do smell good." She said in a menacing tone.
Evie sunk her teeth into Mackenzie's neck, making her scream in pain. The pain was excruciating as the venom slowly spread through Mackenzie's veins, making her feel weak. She pushed at Evie's shoulders in an attempt to escape but Evie has a knee strength. She was stronger than any human. Mackenzie had no chance of pushing her from her.
A whimper left Mackenzie's lips as she realised her fate.
"Isaac!" She screamed.
Evie slapped her hand over Mackenzie's mouth as she looked up at her.
"Shush. I want to enjoy my meal." She hissed.
Suddenly, Mackenzie fell to the ground next to Josh as Evie let go of her. Through her foggy vision, Mackenzie could faintly make out the figure of Isaac fighting Evie off.
She closed her eyes as her head began spinning, then opened them as she heard the sound of a snap. A loud thud sounded meters from Mackenzie as Evie fell to the ground.
"I told her not to kill anyone, I swear. I told her to fed then deceive." A voice panicked. It was Thomas.
"Just take Evie out to my car." Isaac said in anger. "Grace, get josh's body out of here without anyone seeing . I'll deal with Mackenzie." Isaac demanded.
Isaac kneeled down next to Mackenzie, gently lifting her head into his arms. "Hey, your going to be okay." He said, pushing Mackenzie's hair out of her face.
"I'm either going to die or turn, it's not okay." Mackenzie sobbed as she watched Grace drag Josh's body away.
Isaac bit his wrist, making some of his blood drip onto Mackenzie's outfit, then moved his wrist to her lips.
"Drink this." He demanded, without answering Mackenzie's statement.
Mackenzie hesitantly gripped onto his arm and drunk his blood. His blood tasted amazing. She felt her body become stronger again and the fogginess disappeared.
"That's enough." Isaac said, gently stroking Mackenzie hair as he pulled his wrist from Mackenzie's grip. "You're going to be okay." He said, lifting her up into his arms. "Close your eyes." Isaac said to Mackenzie.
Without hesitation, Mackenzie shut her eyes and instantly fell asleep.
She was okay for now. Isaac got to her in time and his blood saved her from turning. However, for Josh, things didn't turn out so well. Unfortunately for him, he lost his life tonight. Something, Mackenzie and Isaac wished they could have stopped. Josh didn't have to die tonight, but he did. And that was because of Thomas. He was going to pay.
