Upstairs was nothing but silence. It was so quiet that Mackenzie could the rustling of Evie from behind the bedroom door. Isaac opened the door and Mackenzie took a step back as she saw Evie. She was sitting on a double bed in the middle of the room. A book was sat next to her and in the background, there was music quietly playing from speakers.
The bed was a dark brown with an old looking head board and it had white and golden bed covers, making the room look a little bright.
There was also a bedside table and dressing table, which matched the colour of the bed frame. Lying on the dressing table was two empty blood bags. Making Mackenzie gulp.
Isaac walked further into the room and Mackenzie hesitantly followed him.
She looked at her bestfriend. There was nothing abnormal about her. She looked perfectly normal. It was like nothing was ever wrong with her.
Evie quickly stood up from the bed, making Mackenzie take a step back.
"Mackenzie, I'm so sorry about last night." Evie said, feeling guilty about her uncontrollable outburst.
Inside, Mackenzie knew that what happened last night was out of Evie's control and her feelings of guilt for her actions, wasn't going to solve anything.
Without thinking, she quickly walked past Isaac and pulled Evie into a hug.
Evie hugged her back, squeezing her eyes shut as she began to feel the familiar itching feeling in her eyes. As she hugged Mackenzie, she looked up at Isaac in panic as she felt her fangs growing. She squeezed her eyes shut again, remembering what Isaac told her. Control the hunger, don't let it control you. Suddenly, her fangs began to disappear again. She resisted it! She looked up at Isaac who seemed relieved.
"Good job." Isaac mouthed to Evie so that Mackenzie didn't know what just happened.
"It's my fault this happened to you." Mackenzie said, letting go of Evie and looking up at her.
"It's okay Mackenzie. I'll get through it. We both will." She smiled.
Things were beginning to look up for Mackenzie and her friends. Evie was beginning to learn how to control her thirst and with a bit of time, she would have complete control over her urges. The only problems left to deal with, was Thomas and the new vampire in town.
"ISAAC!! GET DOWN HERE NOW!"
A voice yell from downstairs. Mackenzie knit her brows as she tried to distinguish who's voice it was. It was Thomas. Of course it was too much to ask for a moment of peacefulness.
Isaac looked to Evie as concern grew in his eyes.
"Let me come with you. I can help if he tries anything." Evie said.
After Evie woke up from having her neck snapped, Isaac filled Evie in on all the details of Thomas' murdering habits. She no longer thought of him as a nice guy. All she seen in him was a killer.
Isaac considered Evie's offer and nodded in agreement. He wanted to trust Evie. He knew that she wasn't a bad person and she didn't intend to hurt Mackenzie last night. She deserved a second chance to prove herself. Plus, it meant that it would be extra protection for Mackenzie.
Mackenzie and Evie followed Isaac downstairs to see Thomas standing in the living room with Andrew and Grace.
He was furious. There was blood all over his clothes and a large wound on his arm that was still in the process of healing. His denim jeans were covered in dirt and were ripped close to the bottom.
Thomas stormed up to Isaac, his teeth gritted in anger. He pressed a finger against Isaac's chest, in a threatening manner.
"If he ever comes to me, asking for you again, I swear to God I will rip your heart out!" He yelled, pushing Isaac back.
"What are you talking about?!" Isaac asked.
"A man called Azazel just attacked me, wanting to know where you were."
Isaac looked at Andrew in confusion. Neither of them had met anyone called Azazel before. Nor did they want to meet him. Then realisation hit Isaac. The founder of Addington was Azazel Addington. Azazel must be a relative if Isaac! A vampire relative...
"Did you tell him where Isaac was?" Andrew asked
"Of course I did." Thomas hissed. "Now move out of my way so I can get out of here before he comes." Thomas said, pushing his way past Isaac and Evie.
As Thomas reached the door, it swung open and a man walked in.
"Knock, knock, knock." He said, walking in to the house without knocking.
He had black hair and a scar on his cheek. He looked to be around the same age as Andrew. He wore a long leather black jacket and black jeans. His hair was quite messy and his hands were stained red from blood. This was the man that turned Evie.
"Oh my, you really do look like your great grandfather." The man said, laying his eyes on Isaac.
Thomas took a few steps back from the man as he walked a little further into the house.
Mackenzie had never seen Thomas look frightened and it honestly made her terrified at the fact that something was actually scaring him.
"Who are you?" Isaac bravely asked.
"My name is Azazel. I'm the founder of this town and I'm your great great grandfather." He explained. He then glanced out the window, looking towards the end of the driveway, he used his vampire sight to see a boy walking his dog. "This town has quite literally gone to the dogs." He scoffed.
"What do you want?" Andrew asked, walking to where Isaac stood, in an attempt to intimidate Azazel.
"I've come to my grandson for help. I'm going to get this town into shape once again. If these mortals want to live here, then they must become vampires." Azazel said, walking towards a shelf and picking up a small wooden ornament. He inspected it, then tossed it over his shoulder making it break into two pieces.
Azazel's British accent sounded cold. With every word that left his lips, a shiver ran down Mackenzie's spine. Could someone really be more evil than Thomas?
"You can't just go around turning people! The town will turn into chaos." Andrew reasoned.
Azazel looked over at Evie and smiled at her, ignoring Andrews comment.
"My dear Evie, don't you look magnificent. The bite has seemed to have done you justice." Azazel said, slowly walking towards her.
"That's close enough." She said. Azazel stopped in his tracks and smiled at her.
Evie looked away as Azazel glared at her, making her feel uncomfortable.
Andrew stepped in front of Evie, hiding her from Azazel as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"I'm very sorry, but Isaac can not help you." Andrew said, making the smile drop from Azazels face.
"Isaacs a big boy, I'm sure he can speak for himself." Azazel calmly said, although a hint of anger was evident in his voice as he raised one eyebrow.
"I won't help you. And I can't let you turn everyone in the town." Isaac said.
"Not only do you look like your great grandfather, but you also sound like him too. A boring old sod." Azazel chuckled. His eyes then glanced over at Mackenzie "and who might you be my dear?" He asked.
"Mackenzie." She answered, her heart raced as she spoke.
"I'm sure that we will see each other again soon." Azazel smirked at Mackenzie. "I must be on my way." He said, leaving the house and also leaving everyone speechless.
Thomas looked over at everyone in the room as he tried to comprehend what just happened.
"We can't let him turn everyone in town, where will we get blood from." Thomas asked in horror.
"Of course all you think about is yourself!" Grace said in anger.
"Thomas is right though. Without any living people, there won't be anymore blood bags. We'll have to move again." Isaac agreed.
"Wait, you're agreeing with Thomas?" Mackenzie asked in disgust.
"As much as I hate to admit it, yes. I want to stay here, for a few years at least." Isaac said, looking over at Thomas who had a smirk forming on his lips as he crossed his arms over his chest.
Thomas came walking back into the living room, and glanced around at everyone. He let out a sigh and then broke the silence,
"Okay... so whats the plan?"
