The rest of the day was spent, attempting to create a plan to drive Azazel out of town. It was impossible to protect every single person in town from being bitten by Azazel but they would try their best. Obviously Thomas suggested that they kill Azazel. Isaac didn't want to have to kill him but if it came to it, he would.
Soon enough Grace had to go home for dinner and Thomas left because "he just wanted to".
"I think that's enough planning for one day," Andrew said, clearing away the glasses that sat on the coffee table.
Evie disappeared off to her bedroom, leaving just Mackenzie and Isaac.
"Would you like to come up to my room?" Isaac asked.
Mackenzie nodded as she and Isaac went upstairs to his room.
It was huge. Just like Evie's room, there was a double bed, dressing table and bedside table. There was an en-suite which was also big. This house was like a mansion!
"Make yourself comfortable," Isaac said, kicking his shoes off and jumping up on his bed.
Mackenzie copied him, pulling her shoes off and sitting next to Isaac, resting her head against the headboard.
So many questions consumed Mackenzie's mind. Like how did Isaac walk in the sunlight?! Or why does Thomas hate Isaac so much?
"How do you walk in the sun?" She asked.
"Andrew knew a witch that could create sunlight potions for us. We drink them every morning. They last for 24 hours then after that, if we haven't drunk the potion again, the sun will burn us." He explained.
"So you just have a big stash of this sunlight potion somewhere? Aren't you afraid in case you run out?"
"The witch placed a spell on each of our bottles so they refill after the liquid inside has been drunk. We've been giving it to Evie too." He explained.
If a witch was able to make Isaac a sunlight potion, then the story of Mackenzie's necklace being previously owned by a witch must have been true!
"You see this necklace?" Mackenzie said, slightly lifting the necklace from her neck so that Isaac could see it. "The first time I met Thomas, he tried to deceive me but couldn't. It was because of this necklace. My dad said that a witch previously owned it." Mackenzie said.
"I would say that your dad went in search of a witch to put a deception spell on that necklace," Isaac said, reaching out for the stone.
His fingers pinched the stone, burning the skin on his fingertips. He yelped in pain and began blowing on his skin to cool it down.
"What?!" Mackenzie panicked.
"It burnt me. Whoever your dad went to for the spell, was a very powerful witch."
A feeling of realisation hit Mackenzie as Isaacs words sunk in.
"Wait, if my dad purposely went to have a deception spell put on this necklace, that means he knows about vampires," Mackenzie said in shock.
This whole time, Mackenzie had felt bad for lying to her father and now it turns out that he had been lying to her too. What else has he lied to her about?!
"I need to talk to him," Mackenzie said, quickly sitting up from the bed as her breathing became heavy.
She wasn't sure how she felt. Was she angry because he had lied to her for years or relieved that she would never have to break the news to him that Vampires exists?
"And tell him what? That you know vampires exist? The first thing he'll do is kill all of us." Isaac said in a panic.
Isaac knew of Jason's family's history. They were known to be the most brutal vampire slayers of their time. Many vampires died at the hands of the Rae hunters, including Isaacs best friend Bobby. Isaac became unaware of his surroundings as the memory replayed in his mind.
November 1956, London, England
Beasley's pub was the place to be on a cold winters evening. Sipping on Gin and having the smell of cigarette smoke consume your nostrils. This was were Isaac and Bobby spent most of their evenings.
The jukebox blared hound dog by Elvis Presley as couples danced the jitterbug.
Isaac wore a white shirt with black trousers and black and white checked braces. His brown curly hair was slicked back with a hat placed on top of his head.
Isaac and Bobby sat at a round, red table as they sipped on their alcohol. Bobby had a cigarette perched between his plump lips as his foot tapped to the catchy song.
"How many people did you feed on today?" Bobby asked in his thick Lindon accent as he watched a group of girls walk onto the dance floor, taking another drag of his cigarette.
"6, but I only drank a little then deceived them to forget. What about you?" Isaac asked.
"Isaac, you're turning into quite the wet rag." Bobby laughed, ignoring Isaacs question.
"Whatever happened to the Isaac that would drink till they dropped?" Bobby asked chuckling.
"Andrew has helped me turn those habits around. I don't want to be a killer Bobby."
Bobby continued watching the girls, ignoring Isaacs statement.
"Quit casting an eyeball and just talk to her already." Isaac chuckled.
Bobby stubbed out his cigarettes in the ashtray that sat in the middle of the table and stood up, brushing himself down.
He flashed a dazzling smile at Isaac then made his way onto the dance floor towards the girl.
Bobby was quite the charmer but was a real gentleman. Isaac watched as Bobby asked the girl for a dance as the music slowed down. She smiled at him, accepting his gesture and danced with him, making Isaac smile.
Unlike Isaac, Bobby didn't have as great of a control over his thirst. Once the blood touched his lips, he couldn't stop drinking until the body was drained of blood.
After a few minutes f dancing, two men entered the pub wearing brown suits with green ties and a brown hat. Their eyes scanned the room, then one of them pointed towards the dance floor. Isaac watched the two figures as they approached Bobby. One of them tapped his shoulder, making him turn around to face the strangers.
Suddenly they both placed a hand on each of Bobby's shoulders, guiding him out of the pub.
Isaac cautiously followed them towards the back of the pub and hid behind the corner of the pub, listening to their conversation.
"Bobby Smith?" One of the men asked.
"Yes sir." Bobby politely answered to the older man. "Who are you may I ask?"
"This is my brother Theodore Rae and I am Ernest. You might have heard us from a friend before." Ernest said.
"No sir, I haven't," Bobby spoke.
"Let me give you a little hint. We slay vampires."
Suddenly, a gasp of pain left Bobby as the sound of something piercing his flesh filled Isaacs' ears
"And unfortunately for you, you're next on our list." The man continued with hatred laced in his voice.
Isaac ran around the corner and seen one of the men holding a wooden stake in Bobby's stomach, while the other man watched in pleasure.
"What are you doing to him?!" Isaac yelled.
The two men turned in shock to see Isaac.
"Is this one of your vampire friends?" The man holding the stake asked, digging the stake further into Bobby's stomach.
"No, I just met him tonight." Bobby lied, gasping as the pain engulfed his body.
"Get out of here son and forget this ever happened." The man that was watching said, walking towards Isaac.
"No! I won't let you hurt him!" Isaac cried.
The man that walked towards Isaac, quickly pulled a gun out and within an instant he pulled the trigger, sending a wooden bullet straight through Bobby's heart.
The man holding the gun turned back to Isaac, hiding the gun inside his suit jacket.
"looks like you got him hurt." he sighed.
The other man let go of Bobby, leeting his body drip to the cold ground with a thump. Then the two men left.
Isaac rushed to his side, cradling his body in his arms as his tears spilt onto Bobby's white shirt.
"Isaac?" Mackenzie said, snapping her fingers in front of Isaacs face.
"Oh yeah sorry what were we talking about?" He asked
"How if my dad found out that you were a vampire he would kill you," Mackenzie answered, making Isaac chew his cheek.
Even though Mackenzie didn't want to admit it, she knew Isaac was right. Anything that could 'endanger' Mackenzie was a threat that needed to be eliminated. She sat back down next to Isaac and rested her head against the headboard.
If Jason knew vampires existed and got a necklace to specifically protect her from them, then telling her father that she knows vampires exist was a terrible idea.
"How have you been? You've pretty much been thrown into the deep end of the supernatural world. I can't imagine it's been easy." Isaac said, changing the subject.
"It's been incredibly hard. I haven't actually sat down to gather my thoughts. Things have just been constantly happening. I haven't had much time to let it all sink in." Mackenzie admitted.
"And what about Grace? How is she handling it?" Isaac asked
"Honestly, much better than me. She's strong."
"So are you."
Mackenzie looked at Isaac and smiled at him.
"Thanks." She whispered.
Mackenzie looked at every inch of Isaac's face. He was beautiful. She looked deeply into his green eyes, then slowly trailed her gaze down to his pink lips. She felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Her mouth became dry and her heart raced. She then looked back up at Isaacs' eyes as a smile formed on her lips.
She was beginning to fall for him. He was kind, caring and not to mention, he saved her life twice.
"I think I should get going," Mackenzie whispered.
"Okay," Isaac whispered back, smiling at her.
They didn't want to pull their eyes from each other.
After a short moment, Mackenzie hesitantly tore her eyes away from Isaac.
"I'll see you in the morning." She said.
Isaac walked Mackenzie to the front door and watched her go to her car. She lightly jogged, tugging the hood of her coat over her head to hide from the rain.
She got into her car and waved at Isaac, before driving down the driveway and making her way back home.
The rain heavily beat against the windshield of Mackenzie's car, while her wipers swiftly swiped away the fallen raindrops that blocked her view. She turned the heating up in her car as her damp clothes began to make her shiver.
The sky had already turned dark and the stars twinkled in the sky. The moon hid behind a wisp of cloud, however, it still shone brightly in the sky.
Mackenzie pulled into her driveway and went inside to see her dad sitting in front of the television, watching a movie with Liam.
"Hey, dad," Mackenzie said, not bothering to interact with Liam.
"Have you been at Grace's this whole time?" He asked.
"No, Grace and I went to Isaac's house after school." Mackenzie lied.
Jason nodded, turning his attention back to the movie.
Mackenzie didn't feel as guilty anymore for lying to her dad. He may have been lying to her to keep her safe from the vampire world, but she was strong enough to handle the truth. He just had no faith in her.
"I'm going to be leaving early in the morning, I lift my history book at Isaac's house so don't worry if I'm not here when you wake up." Mackenzie lied. She would be leaving earlier to go to Isaacs house, but only to check up on Evie.
"I'm leaving early in the morning too, I'll make sure some coffee is ready for you by the time you get up." Liam smiled at Mackenzie.
Mackenzie looked at her dad in confusion then back to Liam who was still smiling at Mackenzie.
"Ah thanks?..." she answered.
"Alright, well I'll be home late tomorrow. I'm going on a date in the evening." Jason said, making Mackenzie raise her eyes brows in shock.
"A date?" Mackenzie asked.
"Yeah, I hope you're okay with it." Jason sheepishly said.
"Of course dad! I'm happy that you're going on a date." Mackenzie cheerfully answered.
Her father has never dated since her mother passed away. He felt it wrong to do so, but Liam must have talked him into dating again.
