James began to run after her, making sure he didn’t lose her but at the same time staying a far enough distance she didn’t spot him. He’d finally find out who the strange girl was.
He finally came to a stop as the girl stopped outside a shop, Henry’s. He narrowed his eyes in confusion, what would she being doing there...it can’t be any good.
He ducked behind a nearby bush as she glanced behind herself before making her way into the shop.
James raised his head slightly so he could see when she exited the shop without being seen. He stared at the door waiting, a slight interest in his eyes.
“Thanks Henry, seeya later!”
The bell rang as she exited the store, holding a black bag in place of the money and envelope; James stood up and sped towards her, not wanting to let her out of his sight even once. Before she was able to turn another corner he grabbed her hand.
“Wait”
She turned around to find him holding onto hand, her eyes widen causing her to drop the bag in her hand.
“What are you doing here?” She hissed at him.
He looked at her, agitation building up inside of him.
“I don’t think that’s the question here Jessica”
She gulped as he emphasised her ‘name’. Her reaction verified his suspicions.
“Who are you? I know you lied to me”
She tried to wiggle out his grip but failed to, he was too strong. He asked her another question.
“What’s in the bag?”
She glanced at the bag on the floor, her eyes widening even more, she grabbed the bag off the floor and tried to run again, his grip tightened, causing her to squeal in pain.
“ANSWER ME!”
She looked around in desperation, before taking in a deep breath a screaming at the top of her voice, completely shocking James.
The few seconds of shock caused him to loosen his iron grip allowing her to escape.
“Shit”
She ran off before he could grab her again. He let out a loud groan. James went to chase after the girl again but was stopped by a man that had been nearby; her scream had caught people’s attention.
“What are you doing?”
“Stopping you from chasing her sir” He tipped his hat respect, angering James further.
“I SAID GET OUT OF MY WAY”
Fire burned in his eyes as he shouted at the man, demanding him to remove himself. The man looked up at James in shock, fear apparent on his face, but still he refused to move himself.
James took in a deep breath; he had to be professional about it. He put his hand into his blazers pocket taking out his police badge, flashing it in front of them man.
“You are obstructing a crime scene unless you want to be arrested for assisting a criminal you best get out of my way now”
All of the colour disappeared from the man’s face, he moved out of the almost instantly.
The man bent down in shame,
“Please forgive me sir, I was just trying to do what I thought was right”
But James was already running in the direction the girl had run away, leaving the man grovelling to thin air.
“Damnit where is she!?”
He carried on running in hopes that he would find her, luck was obviously on his side as he saw her turning around a corner, black bag in hand. He sped up, running as fast as his legs would allow him to.
“Come here!”
She glanced behind her, shock registering her face once again.
“BOSS!” She screamed.
They both turn around the corner to find a group of men and the same man James had seen the girl talking to earlier. They were surrounding a woman on the floor; blood was seeping from her head as she lay lifeless on the ground.
“Good timing girl, we need your powers again”
He turns around to look at Clari, a grin on his face but it instantly drops to a glare as he spots James not far behind her.
“What have you done girl?!”
“He’s the detective I told you about boss, he chased me!”
He let out a dark chuckle, taking a step forward with his walking stick,
“It seems you made the wrong move lad, seems we’ll have two bodies to dispose of now”
James stood where he was observing the situation. He was stood in front of a group of men, who by the looks of it had beaten a woman to death. He then looked at the man in the middle, he was obviously the boss of the group, it seemed he had his work cut out for him.
“B-boss, what do you mean two dead bodies?” The girl squeaked.
“Stop being stupid and bring me the box”
She slowly made her way towards her boss, her eyes stuck to the woman behind him.
“Is she...”
“Yes she’s dead, now hurry up!”
He grabbed the bag from her and took out a small black box; he opened it revealing a blood red stone.
“What will that do boss?”
“I will show you”
He placed the small stone into the necklace he wore around his neck, causing it to emit a bright light. James eyes widen, he finally realised what he’d meant by powers.
“Now boy, you best say your last words as you’ll be next”
a/n: What do you think the stone will do?
