Decisions

Decisions

Jul 23, 2018

There's that split second between your thoughts and actually making a decision that could eventually alter the course of your life. After that, you're simply dealing with the outcome of it all.

"Yessss...take us home..."Andrew slurred.

"I'm calling an Uber," I said helping Heidi back to her seat.

"What! You're going to let some stranger take us home? What if he drives us over a cliff or crashes into an oil camion?" Andrew kinda yelled, letting his French slip.

"I'm technically a stranger too..." I said getting defensive.

"But we just had drinks together for over two hours. That basically burp makes you family," He shot back. Family?

How was he even keeping up with the conversation? The rest were basically knocked out except for Todd who was trying to get the last drop of Vodka from the bottom of the glass.

"Please, take us with you Kathleen," Andrew said sweetly, his accent slipping again on my name.

I looked at them and I knew I was fucked. I should have drunk my senses numb! Oh, who am I kidding?

"Whoever gets their ass up, has a ride with me," I said getting Heidi up. "You need to move your feet!" I said to her.

We managed to make it to my car that I'd parked a block away. I looked behind and didn't see them in sight. I smiled, opened the door and helped Heidi into the passenger seat. As I buckled her up, the back door opened and I jumped, hitting my head. Ow!

"We made it guys!!" Keith said slidding in clumsily.

"Were you actually going to leave...without us?" Todd asked looking straight at me from the back seat.

"Um, no."

"Guys, don't forget to buckle up," Andrew said fumbling with his seatbelt. I went to the back and helped him. Keith and Todd somehow managed on their own. "Thanks Kathleen, you're so sweet." Ok, that's enough drunken talk.

Once I was in the driver's seat, I took out my phone to put in one of their addresses. I figured they were close enough to sleep over at either one of their places.

"May I have any of your addresses?" I asked ready to type. "Guys?"

I looked back and they were all knocked out. Cold. Andrew even had his mouth open.

"Hey, guys, Andrew," I said tapping his knee. "I need an address." Nothing. He didn't even budge.

Great!
