"What? No hello today either?"
Waiting for her on the other side was a short red-headed girl, twirling one of her pigtails and faking a smile. Unlike Lacey, who was wearing her civilian clothes, this girl was dressed in her school uniform, a sleek white blazer and black mini skirt. She is also wearing a mantel like the one Lacey is holding, only hers was gold with a star on one side.
"Well that's just a shame. I was really hoping that you'd at least put some effort into our little talks. With you never talking I feel like I'm the one putting all the work into our relationship. "
Sicylia Vega. One of the highest-ranking students in the academy. Barely over 5 feet tall, she wasn't someone to mess with. She had been blessed to be born with Telekinesis that progressed far beyond the point of just bending metal spoons. Someone with her power could bring down a building if it was in her way. The only thing that possibly surpassed her ability was her ego.
To the rest of the school she was extremely popular and well-liked by both students and professors alike. She was also a head member of the Virtual Council, an imitation of the actual council of Pandora's Ark, but for the academy students. Her status made her similar to a normal school's Student Council President.
Something like attacking junior students was unheard of for most council members, but that wouldn't stop Sicylia.
Because she let her guard down too early, Lacey wasn't aware of someone standing there until after she had already closed the door behind her, blocking her only escape route. The moment the lock clicked, she realized exactly how screwed she was.
"You know, you don't have to be shy when you're around me. I just stopped by to see if you wanted to hang out today."
Sicylia's words seemed innocent enough, but Lacey knew too well what they meant. She was bored and wanted to turn Lacey into her personal plaything again. There had already been countless close calls when Sicylia played with Lacey, most occasions ended with Lacey being sent to the Medical Wing for emergency treatment. Today felt like it was going to be one of those days.
Looking around the hall, Lacey hoped that someone would walk out and notice her being in trouble, but the hall was empty. Usually the weekend meant sleeping in for students who partied the night before.
Calling for help was out of the question anyways, so Lacey decides to try talking her way out of trouble.
"Sorry Sicylia, but I already have plans for today. Maybe some other time."
This was the best excuse Lacey could think off in the moment. Sicylia gave Lacey a surprised look, as though she didn't expect her to speak at all.
(Maybe, just maybe, this will possibly be enough to get Sicylia off my back.)
This was what Lacey truly hoped for. But she thought wrong. This unexpected speech only made Sicylia curious.
"Really? I didn't think that you knew how to make plans. I mean, you’re always hiding in your room, like some kind of reclusive hermit. It kinda grosses me out just thinking about it. Did you even shower today?"
Lacey didn't reply. Of course, she takes care of herself like anybody else would but there would be not point of trying to argue with Sicylia, so she simply kept her head down and avoided eye contact.
This made Sicylia's face contort into one of disgust at the idea she was probably right. Lacey saw this as a good opportunity to get away. There would be rumors running around the school again, but it wasn't anything new.
"Yeah... well I'll see you lat-"
"Hold it."
As if she were frozen in time, Lacey felt her limbs stiffen up completely and her eyes were held opened by some invisible force.
"You're not really planning to go anywhere looking like that are you?"
And in an instant, Lacey's arms and legs snapped hard against her side, so hard that there would most likely be new bruises. She was forced to make an about-face directly to Sicylia, who began to walk around Lacey, examining her from head to toe.
"I mean, really Lacey. Whoever you're planning to see is probably not going to want to see you in... whatever this is supposed to be."
Lacey was wearing a green training shirt and cargo pants. Lacey was not one for fashion, she wore these clothes because they were comfortable and easy to move around in. Right now, ironically, she wasn't feeling either of these traits.
"But don't worry, I know just the thing to help fix you up."
Sicylia digs into a small designer bag on her shoulder and pulls out a black case. Inside were an assortment of makeup brushes and other beauty tools that made Lacey sweat.
It wasn't that Lacey hated makeup, she just only used the bare minimum she felt that she needed. Basic foundations and concealers to hide the dead look in her eyes and cheeks. What scared her the most was who was holding the crimson red lipstick in front of her with the devilish glint in her eye.
"Don't worry about a thing, Lacey. When I'm done with you, everyone won't be able to stop staring."
Sicylia got to work and started to apply the lipstick all around Lacey's mouth, not paying any mind to how sloppy it looked. Lacey feel it scrap against her teeth as it shoves between her lips.
After a minute or so, Sicylia used up the entire tube and tosses the empty lipstick onto the floor. She then reaches back into the black case to pull out some brushes, which began to float around into the air and launch themselves at Lacey's face. Lacey's eyes were already beginning to burn and tear up from being pried open, but now the was a mesh of mascara and blush flying onto her face, causing them to sting much worse.
After a moment of excruciating prodding and poking, the brushes fall to the floor, leaving a numbing pulsing feeling on Lacey's face.
"Hmm. I guess I should have waited to put the lipstick on last, but it's still an improvement from your usual face. Care to look?
Sicylia lifts up the case lid to reveal a small mirror. In it, Lacey sees the damage done to her face, which was a lot worse than she had imagined. She was expecting the end results to make her look like a deranged serial killer clown, but now she sees that she looks more like a 2 year old's finger-painting.
"What do you think, Lacey? Isn't it my best work yet?"
At this moment Lacey wanted to scream so many nasty things at Sicylia, along with other body gestures, but, luckily for her own sake, she was still petrified.
Tears running down her cheeks began to stain the mascara from her glossy red eyes, making her appearance even more horrific.
"Come on Lacey, be honest and tell me what you think."
Lacey at this point was thinking that she couldn't feel more humiliated, but that's where she was wrong.
"Wwaow, Ssisealliah!! Iiih sshuur llohk pperittyh, ddoen Iiih?!"
Lacey's jaw began to move up and down like a ventriloquist dummy. Her tongue was also moved around while the air in her lungs was forcing its way in and out of her throat, to make her speak in a crude manner.
"Ooph ccorsess, iiwll nebbarr bey aash ppehrttty aasss yyoo!"
Lacey's arms jerked up into the air and began to flail around,
This seemed to be a new method of torture that Sicylia has been practicing for a while, seeing how happy she seemed with the results. Or maybe she was smiling from ego receiving praise. Lacey would have guessed it was both if she wasn't too busy struggling to breathe with her erratic air flow.
"Oh that's okay Lacey, your still my friend, even when I have to put up with you all the time."
"YYAAHY!! Staankh Yoo, Ssasseellliah!! Yyoor mmah bessh phreennd!!
"Aww, isn't that sweet. Hey, let’s take a selfie together!"
(Please no...)
"YAAH!!"
Sicylia stands next to Lacey and pulls a up a holo-screen from her Wristcom. Lacey now sees a larger scale of her disaster face and now with Sicylia standing at her side striking a pose.
"Come on Lacey, smile."
"Ookah"
The corners of Lacey's mouth are stretched up, making her give a bucktooth smile competed with the rest of her face. She also made Lacey strike her own pose, raising her hands up to make peace signs.
"Say Besties!"
"Bhesdiess"
The screen began snapping multiple pics of the two of them, making several different posses. From a distant, it would almost look as if the two of them truly were friends taking selfies together.
After several pictures taken, Sicylia decided to stop. But not before scrolling each pic and sending them to various friends, which instantly gain plenty of likes and witty comments.
She finally turns back to Lacey, who is still stuck in her last pose. She smiles as she displays their now buzzing slide show.
"Thanks Lacey. I must say, the two of us together are getting a lot of likes from people we know. I can't tell which one of use they like more."
"Oohh, iisht moosht ddehentsly Yoo, Sseesealla!!"
For a moment, Sicylia frowns as if annoyed that her name isn't being pronounced right. But she quickly smiles again as if she needs to finish some kind of performance.
"Well maybe your right, Lacey. After all, I am pretty amazing, aren't I?"
"Mossht ssherdtanly!"
Sicylia couldn't help but break from her fake smile and laugh at that last remark, causing her more natural diabolical smile to show. Lacey, on the other hand, was trying not to cry.
When she finished, Sicylia looked at Lacey again with her usual fake smile.
"Well Lacey, even though I said I'd hang out with you, I'm actually busy today too if you couldn't tell. I have a virtual councilors meeting to attend."
"Awwh, dahts no fhun."
"I know. I would rather spend with time you, Lacey. Because, after all..."
Sicylia steps in closer to Lacey and whispers into her ears.
"You're my favorite toy."
Lacey felt a chill run down her spine from hearing these words. It was her way to remind Lacey that she was nothing more than Sicylia's personal possession, until the day she finally break her for good.
"Aandt iwll aalwahs be yoor towyy, Si-sel-li-a. Fowevbah aand evah!!"
(Why me? Why the Hell can't you just leave me alone!)
These words raced through Lacey's mind the entire time she faced Sicylia. She wasn't the only person to take advantage of Lacey, but she was definitely the worst by far.
"I'm glad to hear it. Well go do whatever it is you do when I'm not around. Let's find you a new outfit sometime, okay?"
"Okah, ssonds gweyt!"
"Be good now, okay? Don't cause anyone trouble when I'm gone or else I'll scold you."
"Okah, I wond."
"Good girl. I'll see you later then."
"Byeh byeh, Besdie!!"
Lacey's arm started to wave erratically again as Sicylia marched off to her meeting.
As she disappeared down the hall, Lacey couldn't stop waiving her arm right away, but gradually she was able to resist until she finally gains full control of her body again.
Lacey falls to her hands and knees as she gasps for the air in her lungs to return to normal. Her eyes, which were extremely dry and teary, finally gained some relief, even though they still burn from the makeup chemicals caught into her eyes.
She stumbles from the floor back to her door where she struggles to open the lock and falls onto her bedroom floor. She rushes to the sink and thoroughly tries to flush out her eyes until she can see clearly and the stinging cools down a bit.
She then decides to get into the shower with her clothes still on and blasts her face with cold water while scrubbing her face with a towel.
Shutting off the water, she steps it in her soaked clothes and looks into the bathroom mirror. Her eyes were still pink and now her face was scrubbed to with small traces of eyeliner and and lipstick all over.
She notices that her teeth are also still red from the lipstick and tries to wipe them with a clean cloth. As she does, she notices not all the red stains were lipstick.
As Sicylia jerked her jaw up and down making her talk, she seemed to have bitten in the side of her cheeks and tongue a few times. She hadn't even notice until now, even though they still sting quite a bit.
But Lacey was lucky there was no serious injuries this time. There were so many things that Sicylia could have done to kill Lacey, with only using a single thought.
If Sicylia hadn't maintained the the right amount of restraint, she could have easily caused Lacey bite off her own tongue. She could have done a lot of things, like rip out her jaw or break off all her limbs. She could even forced all of Lacey's organs to shut down, all with a single thought.
Telekinesis was truly a terrifying power.
Today wasn't the first time Sicylia came close to ending Lacey's life, and there were many times she came out with broken bones or worse. The worst so far would be the time she forced Lacey to jump off the 3rd floor balcony, She had to stay in the M.W. for 3 months to recover.
She was lucky that the only thing that was broken today was her already shattered image.
After cleaning herself off one last time, Lacey decided to change into her training uniform and didn't bother putting back on her own scrubbed off foundation, revealing her dead eyes and pale skin.
She walks to her bedroom door again. Before she reaches the handle, she stops. Now was when Lacey would usually decide whether it was better to push through her day or just hide away in her room.
The choice to hide was tempting, but was it worth missing her appointment?
Taking a deep breath, Lacey opens the door and steps out, deciding to do what she always does and try to forget about everything that's happen.
Yet still, in her heart, Lacey never lets her desire for revenge die. One of these days, she is going to put an end to Sicylia's reign of terror.
One way or another.
