For the past, let's say, thirteen years, I've been thinking that I had what was called a perfect family. Sounds childish, but, that's what my eyes portrayed to me. Yet, this whole time I was actually deceived. Those days when my parents used to smile at each other were the best, but, I never thought it would go crashing the moment I started to understand more and more about what this façade is really like. Honestly, I hated the fact that I could sense when something is not right from a mile away and I hated the fact that I could sense the lies that are being thrown at me. How did it all start?
It started off with the most pettiest thing in the planet and it's so ridiculous that it shouldn't be stated. Anyways my parents were arguing about this problem and of course my dad thought it would be easier to settle everything by hitting my mom. What did I do ? I just stared at the wall and stopped myself from emitting any sorts of noises because of how shocked I was. Once he left after hitting her for the first time (I hope), my mother cried and walked over to me and grabbed my shoulders roughly as she started blaming me for the causing this verbal dispute that went physical.
After that such a thing never happened. Good right? But something changed. They didn't even talk to each other and only exchanged words about work related things. It hurt me so much, but, what made my optimism for a change went downhill when I saw something I shouldn't have.
It was on a normal evening and I wanted to ask my dad for something, but, he was in the washroom and I noticed that he left his phone unlocked so I decided to take a small look at it since he never let me use it. At the same time a notification popped up saying 'can't wait for tonight' and that was when my heart almost stopped. I didn't want to believe it, so, I pressed the notification and I wish I didn't because it was clear that my dad was...cheating. But what did I do? I just put the phone and pretended I didn't see anything.
