The teacher revealed Monster in cages. They were rattling the cages beating them. The cages were not letting them out but that didn't calm them down. The teacher looked at all the students. He scanned them all looking for someone or something. 

"I haven't properly introduced myself" He said. He cleared his throat then looked at them after scanning them.

"I am Mr. Crossby, I will be your new teacher from now on. I was supposed to be a substitute but your old teacher has quit" Everyone looked at him funny all of their faces said that they didn't want him here. He pointed his index and pinky fingers. One towards Alex and one towards Derek.

"You two look like you will do well here" He said whilst letting out a sinister smile. His very presence rang all of the danger bells on Elijah. He knew that there was something more to him than he let on. 

"OK all of you line up!" Mr. Crossby yelled. Without any hesitation they all stood next to each other all of them were stiff. Elijah was between Alex and Derek, who were both taller than him and had a bigger build. Mr. Crossby was walking along the line of people cutting it into groups of three. Elijah was put into a group with Alex and Derek. He didn't mind it actually because both Derek and Alex were above average in their physical strength and speed and Elijah was going to leave it all to them at least that is what he thought. Mr. Crossby blew his whistle deafening the class then gave out orders.

"Here is what is happening. You are all put into a group of three and you must eliminate one monster each within a 60 minute time frame. If one of you fails to kill one within the time limit then the entire team will be eliminated and will be severely punished! also if you feel you cant do it then scream out it out you are no good to me dead, oh and one more thing you can't help your teammates for this exersice" These words gave the class a chill down their spine but Alex and Derek looked at each other grinning like rivals only the tension that they gave off was one that was scaring everyone in the class. Then they both put up their hands. Mr. Crossby looked at them then pointed as if you say go on. Simultaneously they both asked.

"Sir we only have two people in our group!" Mr. Crossby looked at them in a funny way.

"Are you two FUCKING blind!" He bellowed. They both looked at him confused. He then pointed straight to Elijah. The two rivals turned and stood there shocked. Between them was one guy who was above average in height but they were monsters in everyway so they beat him. Elijah faced palmed himself. 'If only I could have slipped away before he noticed' He thought to himself. They both laughed really loud. Alex pointed to him and said.

"Sir is this our teammate, I might as well have an ant for a teammate" Everyone in the class laughed and for some strange reason Elijah actually felt irritated. He has never felt this way before and it was new to him . He didn't know why he was and he didn't know why he had started to feel emotions but it the fact that Alex said that really got on Elijah's nerves. Then from the crowd someone spoke up.

"I'll have you know that ants can lift ten times their own weight" Emily walked out from the crowd pointing one finger up like people do when they try to explain something. 

"I-I-I know that" Alex mumbled embarrassed. All the boys immediately shut up and went back into their groups walking back slowly. The girls snickered a little but went quiet after a little. She looked at Elijah smiling at him then went back to her group. Crossby noticed how everyone listened to her Elijah could see him nodding his head. 

Elijah had calmed down a bit but he still wanted to beat Alex's face in. The training had begun and there were nine groups of three. Crossby sent them all to different arena areas that were setup and in each were three monsters in cages none of them were particularly strong but they were enough to scare almost the whole class. Alex and Derek were fine though. Elijah had thought as much. Crossby started a countdown.

"Begin!"

The doors on the cages lifted and monsters began to charge out. All over the arena were screams of people and girls and boys crying asking for it to stop. It had only been thirty seconds but already there were only three groups left. One consisted of two girls and one boy who were all athletic and the second one had Emily and two other girls. The final group were Alex, Derek and Elijah. They all stood there none were sure what to do exactly. In class they all learned that monsters had their hearts in different spots. Every monsters had a unique area. Even if they were the same species the hearts were in different places. Everyone stood there examining their monsters trying to find their hearts. The monster initially charged out but right now they were creeping around. All the people that had left early were in the spectator's box watching the training. All the boy's eyes were fixated on Emily just as all the girl's eyes were glued to Alex. There was a shriek from the arena next to Elijah. It sounded a lot like how Elijah sounded after he was attacked. The an alarm blared. The loud speaker went off and Mr. Crossby's voice came out from it.

"Don't stop training the participant only has a minor injury they will be fine. But whatever you do DON'T STOP!" Alex and Derek put their attention back to the monsters in their arena and Elijah threw his attention back to his but it had disappeared. It wasn't in the arena. Elijah jerked his head around looking for it but to no avail. It was gone. Derek and Alex started to charge at their monsters. Both were armed with a pistol and military grade knife. Alex sped towards the monster and shot it's eyes. The monster screeched and jumped back blood was trickling from its eyes. Derek's monster's attention was turned toward its wounded comrade but as it turned it's head back to Derek only to find that it was dead. Derek had stabbed it straight through its heart. Located just under its stomach. It fell to the ground and the speaker went off.

"Derek Franchez you have passed" then it went off again.

"Emily Goodna, Theora Haztel, Sophia Gray you have passed" Eliajah looked at it. 'The whole group has passed at the same time?' Then it went off one more time.

"Alex Hargrave you have passed" 

Elijah was the only one left in his arena he was fixated on the two dead monsters in the center. There was a loud crash and a cloud of smoke. From the smoke emerged the third monster. Its teeth were white and it had long sharp claws. It was a bright red with black eyes. It locked onto Elijah and started to creep towards him.
