"What do you think you're doing?!"
I immediately stopped climbing the bunk bed's ladder. I turned my head and looked at Chinami. She gave me a surprised gaze, It wasn't her.
“I said, what do you think you’re doing?”
It was the blue haired girl.
Quickly I turned to my enquirer. She glared at me, strumming my guitar all the while.
I never knew nor seen her before yet she seemed so intimidating to me, but I can't lose to her. This interaction will set the tone for our interactions, I've lost so many of these first conflicts and I was determined to win this one. By Mirai, I was fourteen years old and I will not continue to lose!
“I’m was," I choked. "G-going to up my be-"
"What was that?" she cut me off.
Yeah, I've already lost this one, but I'm not going to lay down.
"I'm..." I stumbled again. "I mean I was going up," I took a breath. "To my bed."
"Oh. She said."
She stopped strumming.
There was a pause, I felt my arms and legs shaking a little, mind that I was still hanging on the bunk bed ladder.
"That's my bed though."
A bullet train of thoughts ran through my head, I recognized the speed of response might be my only way of coming back.
"Well, that's my guitar." I dropped down, like a cool person, and pointed to my guitar. In hindsight, I should have said my line and did my gesture simultaneously.
"Okay, trade you the guitar for the top bunk."
"Yes."
NO, YOU IDIOT. THAT GUITAR WAS YOURS ALREADY!
"I mean no! I mean..."
The blue-haired girl handed me my guitar back and climbed to the top bunk.
"You're cute," said the blue-haired girl as she sat and dangled her feet. "I'm Aimi."
“She’s our new sister, Wendy.” Chinami chimed in. "She's a transfer from Ganymede Academy. She is in her final year of Idol training just like us."
"Ganymede Academy..." I heard myself echo.
"Yep, best academy of the system!" Aimi yelped. "I was the top student there."
"I see," I said looking up to her.
Wait a moment, I thought. If she was Ganymede Academy's top student, from her own batch I assumed, why did she transfer here to Sen Valley all the way out orbiting Uranus?
"Uhh, I don't get it," I remember saying.
"I'm sorry?" Aimi said.
"I mean, no, like I'm sorry." I said.
"Sorry about what?" Aimi said.
"Oh that's how Wendy talks, Aimi," said Chinami.
"Like a weirdo?" said Aimi where it hurts.
"Uhh...," thought Chinami. "Yeah."
"Ah..." I said blank.
"You were going to ask Aimi..."
"Right," I cut Chinami off, "W-why did you transfer here? I mean you were..."
"Top student yeah!" said Aimi. "And Ganymede Academy was a lot of fun too, and bigger than this place yeah, had a lot of friends and stuff there too..."
"Were you in trouble?" I asked.
"Nah, I'm a good girl," Aimi said. "I moved cause my okaa-san transferred here." Aimi smiled.
“So your okaa-san works in the school. Is she a teacher or—“
I was interrupted again by her. It's a very expected thing, judging from how she was a while ago. But her next sentence was very not expected for me.
“Ugh, by Mirai, isn't it obvious?"
I sank.
"My okaa-san is Principal Deeta!”
