Aussie, Ash and I finished our breakfasts and moved to our respective homerooms.
Foot traffic to my homeroom was severe, I was told a while ago that had gotten worse after with the government pressuring Sen Valley to take more and more applicants in an effort to provide access to quality education to the less privileged, i.e. me.
A couple of bumps and sorries later, I had arrived.
Class 9-2.
I could hear my fellow students chatting and laughing even from the outside. “I’m glad I’m in the same class with you again!” was a theme for the students as they hugged. Also heard were multiple loud “Kyaas!". Witnessing them made me feel that I was missing out, at one point I even practice "Kyaas!" when I was alone. Much to my own embarrassment when someone would walk in on me.
I open the door and gave the usual greeting.
“Ohayou.” I said.
The whole class stopped and looked at me. It was natural, I was an Idol Candidate. It's expected to pause when an Idol Candidate enters the room, even me. Idol Candidates are expected to be the spiritual leaders of the class, guiding them to a state of productivity fueled by spiritual fulfillment.
It is not uncommon for an Idol to make an entrance and perform a mini-sermon. I suspect that the students expected a fast-paced mini-monologue about the virtues of the day that would use the momentum of the moment to fill them with Mirai's virtue.
I closed the door carefully.
"Carry on."
I didn't have it in me, not that day at least. Sorry classmates.
Aimi will probably be better at what they wanted than I will ever be anyway.
The cheers and conversation started again, I checked my glassPhone to see where I was slated to sit, and went there.
I sat there mindlessly browsing the web, until it was time.
My favorite time of the day.
"Ohayou, minna-san!" greeted the PA system that was pumped throughout the academy premises. "It is now time for personal prayer, please sit down at your assigned desks, and meditate on your chosen Canon passage. Arigatou gozaimashita."
Everyone quickly took a seat with silent.
At last, peace.
I took out my earphones, put them to my ear, and scrolled to my planned Canon prayer for the day...
