"Hy-ah!"
"Good kick Yasu! But now your wide open!"
"Huh?"
After Yasu delivers a kick to the left side of Li-Ying's head, Li-Ying grabs his leg and brutally slams Yasu to the ground. Yasu pushes himself up with his arms and attempts to kick up at Li-Ying while getting up. After missing, he steps back immediately and assumes an ancient Manchu fighting stance.
"Lets, go. Yasu!"
"Haa!"
Yasu delivers a flurry of kicks and punches that are all expertly evaded swiftly by Li-Ying. Yasu then bends down and sweeps a wide area with his right leg, aiming for Li-Ying's legs. In return, Li-Ying jumps forward and kicks Yasu with such force that it blows him all the way to the temple wall. Yasu is struggling to get up from the impact, panting heavily, one eye closed and leaning back on the wall.
"Ow! Sensei that hurt."
Li-Ying extends a hand.
"Haha, sorry about that. Say, why don't we go meditate on the sparring session and figure out what you could have done better during the fight."
"Yes, sensei."
My name is Yasu. It means peace, my mother named me that. I decided to leave my home quite some time ago in search of something greater, and it led me to an ancient Manchu temple. In the temple, there lived monks who devoted themselves to a peaceful lifestyle, free from all the troubles of the outside world. In order to obtain eternal enlightenment and wisdom, I decided to train alongside the monks. The training was gruelling, both mentally and physically, however, it has made me a more calm and stronger person.
"Remember, Yasu. You need to wait for the right moment to strike. You need to stay calm and collected while fighting. You have strong strikes but because your lashing out your defence is lacking."
"Yes sensei, I will remember to stay methodical when fighting."
"Now then, I want you to start meditating about how the fight would have gone if you followed that approached"
I lie down and assume a traditional Lotus meditation position. I fold my legs criss-cross and put my right hand over my left. I see it clearly. When I delivered that kick to my sensei's head, I should have flipped and delivered another kick with the same foot. It would have staggered him and would give me enough time to think about my next action. When he attacks with his open right palm, as he usually does, I could have tripped him over the floor with a counter to his unguarded left. While he is on the ground, I can rest my palm on his shoulder blades, grab his hand and subdue him.
"I think you are now ready, Yasu."
"For what?"
"The moment you have been training for your whole life, awakening your inner potential..."
"Am I really ready for it? The Third Eye?"
"You have been here for a long time now, Yasu. You are more prepared than anyone else here in this temple."
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
A Third Eye. Unlocking this mystical power can grant you strength beyond your wildest dreams. The Eye can find weaknesses within every biological being, and exploit it. It unlocks all of your hidden power tucked away, and while most people's power potential is low, when training with the monks for years it increased mine tremendously. It grants you spiritual awareness, knowledge and wisdom about yourself and can look into the history of others. The process of gaining it, however, is quite gruelling. Firstly, you must remove all Earthly Desires. Money, Love, Belongings. You have to reach your most logical mental state. Next, you have to meditate and fight your inner self 100 times over. This meditation can easily last days since you are both equal in almost every way. If you lose the fight, there will be severe consequences to both your physical and mental state. You will not be able to move or think for many days. If you try to unlock the *eye* again, not only will your inner self-be stronger but if you lose the fight this time you will lose the ability to ever unlock your potential again. Meaning~
"I don't think I'm quite ready yet, Sensei. I need more training."
"You are more than ready, Yasu."
"Sensei, you have not even unlocked this power, how could I expect to try and unlock it?"
"I was too cocky, I never learned the way of the monks like you did. I only wanted power when I came here, and as such when I started meditating my inner self-reflected that thirst. I lost, and can never realize my full potential..."
"Yeah... I also used to be like that.. too cocky... which is exactly why I shouldn't~"
"But you are ready, Yasu. I've seen your spiritual training, and you have no desires for power like I did. Your fighting skills may need a little more improvement, but you originally came here for spiritual enlightenment. You are ready for the Third Eye.."
Li-Ying is taking us to an ancient room in the Temple, called the reawakening chamber. When we were walking through the hallway, pictures of Monks with their third eye awakened was hung up on the wall. At the end of a hallway, above the door that led into the chamber, there was a huge picture of a man with his Third Eye awakened, except he had no pupils in any of his eyes and the iris of the third eye was blue.
A reawakening chamber is a place completely devoid of any colour, only white. Walking into the room, it had a strange atmosphere. The room was very misty, and I was gasping for air. My heart was pounding so hard, it fell like a rhino constantly bashing on my chest. I fell down to my left leg while holding my chest.
*pant**pant* "This room, I think I'm choking from just being here."
"Some monks say that this room is alive, you must let go of all thoughts of the future and the past. Any negative or positive experiences that have happened to you in the past or the future must be forgotten right now. Meditate and think about the moment that is now. How you are alive, and the neutrality of this moment. Not only will the room start to become clearer to breathe in, but your inner self will reveal itself. Prepare to engage in combat with him.
"Yes sensei, I think I'm ready."
"Good, now assume a traditional lotus meditation stance."
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
As I meditate I try not to focus on anything. I first try to forget about everything and focus on myself only. It's hard. I try to forget about my family, about the delicious meals she would cook and warm bed my mother gave me. The blacksmith training my Father gave me, and the countless hours we would spend at the garage creating a shield. The satisfaction I would get after finishing a blacksmithing job. I start to sweat, and as my sweat his the floor it immediately evaporates. The room is getting hot. I feel my blood boiling and my veins straining. I feel moisture leaving my tongue and my eyes.
"Why... DID I LEAVE???? IT WAS PERFECT!"
The room starts heating up further. I stop my stance immediately and look around me. The room is glowing completely in red, and it is extremely hot. My skin is slowly peeling away. My blood is boiling, and my heart is beating even faster than before. I start to kneel. My blood pressure must be through the roof. Suddenly, my right-hand start forming a bulge and explodes in a gory spectacle of blood. There is nothing left on my hand except for the nails and palm skin. The room, it must be reacting to my emotions. I need to clear my head of all of those thoughts. I, once again, assume a lotus meditation position and the whole room starts going back to its colourless self with the most sweeping back in.
I remember the night. The night I left the house. It was a summer afternoon. I had just gotten back my report card from my high school.
"Yasu! You failed 3 subjects, including Math! The only subject you actually have done decently in is Phys. Ed"
"Whatever, Dad. Not like I plan on going to university or wherever you want to send me."
"What has happened to you? You weren't like this when you were younger. You were the most joyful, charismatic kid and you always had your marks up. Why are you acting this way?"
"Once I discovered Baseball, I knew that I would not need to try in any other subjects. Think about it. All a sports scholarship needs are good marks in Phys. Ed and I have that. My future is set."
I remember the scene so vividly. My father starting hitting on me. So hard. It felt like nails drilling into my skull. He wouldn't stop hitting me on my skull with his huge hands. They may as well as be been battering rams.
"My son! Why???!"
*bash* *bash*
"HOW WILL YOU PASS HIGH SCHOOL WITH 3 FAILED COURSES?"
*bash* *bash*
"DO YOU WANT TO GROW UP TO BE A USELESS MEMBER OF SOCIETY?!?!?"
*bash* *bash*
"Stop. STOP!"
I threw myself into my Father and grabbed both of his hands. My mother helped me pull me back.
"Honey, you were being~"
"BE QUIET! GO TO YOUR ROOM YASU!"
I stormed upstairs and shut my room. I never wanted to see them again. They were holding me back of course, from my budding baseball career. I was going to join the MBA and make so much money with my pitching and show it off to them. During the night I packed the few things I had in a knapsack and left through the windows.
I was so stupid back then. I miss them dearly. I wish I could see them again and have their love and comfort. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for the way I acted. If I could take everything back, I would immediately. If I hadn't been so prideful and stuck up over being able to throw a ball, everything would be perfect. I would still have my parents love. I would still be a joyful, happy kid who actually cared about getting into a good school. Becoming a doctor and making my parents proud. Instead, I decided to run away from all my responsibilities.
As I am meditating, I don't feel myself sitting on solid ground anymore. My stance is completely broken. I immediately open my eyes and gasp for air. I'm falling, but through what? There is no direction, and the room is completely black. Right, the room is controlled by my emotions. I need to forget about everything...
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The door of the front temple smashes open and flies towards my master. An impressive feat, considering that the door is made out of ancient gold and is 20 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Through the dust clouds, two strangers start walking towards him. The men see my master meditating inside around a circle of candles. They have dressed in completely black clothing, with ninja-looking masks around their faces and on their back a sword sheathed.
"Oi, old man, where is it?"
"Yeah, tell us the location."
"I don't know what you two want, but leave here immediately or else I will be forced to use lethal force."
My master raises his left leg up, retracts his right arm and extends his left arm. He is assuming a fighting stance, getting ready for combat.
"You think you can take the both of us on? Bring it on!"
The two mysterious men starting rushing my master in a synchronized attack. As they run towards him, they overlap one another whilst running, confusing my master as to which one will attack first. When one man goes to the right, the other goes to left and they repeat this process. This is making it hard for my master to figure out which one will attack. He closes his eyes slowly extends his left leg and lets his hands hang loose. When both of them attack at the same time, right fists extended he starts spinning and kicks one of them in the face. He keeps twisting his leg to hit the other man and blow them both away into a temple pillar.
As they struggle to get up from one another my master is already up in the air ready to deliver a brutal kick. Sensei extends his right leg and descends for them. They stumble to get out of the way, barely dodging the kick that completely broke the temple pillar. One of the men retract their left arm, and the other retracts his right arm. They shift backwards, and they are getting ready for a synchronized punch. As my master is regaining his orientation from that kick, both of them rush at him and punch him in the abdomen. Sensei spits from the impact and is knocked down. They unsheathe their blades and draw it to the neck of my Sensei.
"Tell us, old man. Where is the scroll that contains the deadly fighting techniques of the Manchu clan?"
"Like I'd ever tell you, thugs!"
As they prepare to strike his neck, my master gets up and extends both of his legs outwards towards the ceiling. Surprised, they step back. He extends both legs and starts spinning. The kick hits both of them and knocks them back. As they are recovering from the kick, my master stands up and rushes at one of them. He grabs his coat collar and runs towards the wall. When he knocks him into the wall, a flurry of punches await his unsuspecting face. Within mere seconds his face is rendered unrecognizable. As my master brutally pounds away at his lifeless face, his partner stabs a blade through my master's stomach.
"No... you.."
My master falls down.
"Hey, you still alive. Come on, we can't find it with you in this condition.."
"Yeah..."
"Come on, we have to leave, right now.
