I see her everyday
But never hear her utter a single word
Same places, same days
Simply sits there reading
All the time, everyday
On the cement stairs
In the chairs
Always over there
Far from the others
They’re scared
Scared of her
Yet she simply sits there
Reading
Always reading
But every time a new book
How does she read so fast?
Skimming across their pages
Her eyes are a dull green
A dying forest
As if she’s tired
Tired of living
Her cheek is purple and blue
A variety of hues
Lines on her neck
Red crosses her chest
But from what
I wouldn’t know
I can’t speak
Just watch
She’s a sun
Defiant and alone
Would I dare?
No One else cares
No One else wonders
About the curiosity
That sits down yonder
He sits up yonder
Why is beyond me
Close to the atrocity
No One else ponders
No One else dares
But from what?
As if I wouldn’t know
I ignore them
Always reading
The crosses on their chests
Yet nothing on his neck
His are a variety of hues
But overall
They are a bright light blue
As if they’re the sky
The reason why
I’m still breathing
His eyes slowly meet mine
Skimming the lonesome sight
How could he possibly care?
But every time the chance arises
He never dares
Always watching
Simply sits there
Watching
Far from all of them
Suddenly so near
To me
Near the chairs
By the cement stairs
Wandering, like a stray
Nothing to say
Simply sits there watching
Same stance, same way
But today I hear him utter single line
“I see you, everyday.”
