"...Nadia we've been dating for three months."
some Nadia and Hattie, because I need to upload something. the next update is taking longer than anticipated, because a) i've rearranged some plot things and b) I finally started a new job (yay! money!)
but also here’s the sitch. and this is going to be long. in light of something that's happened recently with a certain show you may or may not have heard about, i’ve rethought the way i’ve approached a couple things.
I don't like talking too much about what my plans are with this comic or what ideas i have about my characters outside what's going on in the comic. I don't want to be too heavy handed in the nudging, you know? there are certain things that i've been asked that I haven't responded clearly to because i feel it's too spoilery, or I might change my mind about in the future.
but that's hogwash.
i'm bisexual, and pretty sure about that. I care very deeply about lgbt+ characters and that they get good stories. i think it's very important to have more good stories about folks on my side of the line. so when something promises to be, but then lies about that? it's hurtful and it needs to stop.
So. Hattie likes girls, y'all already know that. but she is not going to be the only lgbt+ character. Alec likes boys. he's 14, so he's still in the unsure what to do about that phase, and he’s. again. 14.
and there are still other characters I have plans to be lgbt+, but I’ll let you see for yourself when the time comes for it. That’s what I had originally planned for everyone, but? the whole, “oh by the way, this character was gay secretly the whole time!!!” shtick is crap. I’ve been guilty of it. that was disingenuous. sorry.
I’m going to try very hard to avoid the tropes that i’m sick of seeing, i.e., bury your gays or gay in subtext only. I don’t know how successful i’ll be, but I promise to try my best <3
