The world was ending. At least that is what the old lore keeper thought. Sadly he is right mostly, the masked man thought to himself as he sat silently on the chair behind him. He watched as the man scribbled with his quill frantically, dab dab dab he went at on the parchment. The masked absorbed pockets of light around him and muffled his foot steps as he stood up and made his way towards the old lore keeper. A mortal right on so many accounts yet wrong, sadly it must end.
He swiftly slid a steel dagger out to his hand from his sleeve and slit the old lore keepers throat. He slid it back up and took the tome he was writing. He read a few pages, almost right. The masked man brought his hands together, vanished then reappeared in another place. He burned the tome to a pile of ashes and scattered them on the ground below.
He was high atop a tower in a city. The city was made of made of sand and stone with buildings as far as his eyes could see. A large crow landed in front of him Caw Caw it went. The large crow Cawed again and it eyes were a bright white. You do not trust easily do you? He thought to himself as he turned around and saw a man and a woman standing behind him. “You are late.” the man said as they made their way towards him.
“Here now.” he retorted, the large crow flew over his head and was absorbed into the man’s chest. “Are you ready to join me?” he asked them. The man had short red hair with green eyes, black markings decorated his face. The woman had long sandy blonde hair, she had the face of a child.
“Are you really Barroth the silencer?” the woman asked. He chuckled “I told you already.” “It is hard for us to believe that.” the woman answered. “Why do you need us?” the man asked, “Your powers.” Barroth stated. “You two have seen the darkness. We need to stop it.” The man and woman looked at each other. They had a silent conversation then nodded in agreement.
“Fine. We will join your ranks.” the man said as he extended his hand “Together we will save this world.” “Hopefully.” the man retorted. “Why do you not believe we can?” he asked the man’s gaze met his own ”How can the three of us save this world?” he asked solemnly. “There will be more than three of us.” Barroth answered. “Rurian and Auessa I have an important assignment for you two.” “What is it?” asked Auessa “There is a man I would like you two to recruit.”
“I am guessing it is not as simple as just asking this person is it?” japed Rurian.
“It never is.” said Barroth, Rurian opened his palm and sprang another large crow “Where do we find him?” “The prison beneath the red cliffs.” Auessa and Rurian were silent. Barroth sighed and slid a scroll out his sleeve “A map. You two are heading to Vallond.” “What about you?” Rurian asked as Auessa took the map. “I have a meeting with a prince.” He brought his hands together and teleported to a clearing in a forest where he was greeted by an elderly man sitting on a log.
The elderly man had long white hair with pasty pale skin. His robes were a dark blue, and had large black beads around his neck. He had one glowing red eye and a glowing blue eye with. The elderly man stood up “Did you get the other two?” he asked as he stood up. “Yes milord they joined as you had hoped. I sent them after Cudran.” The old man nodded “Good he will be a fine addition.” Barroth knelt as the elderly man approached him “what of the prince, milord?”
“When night falls you will meet him. Tell him you bring the power that is rightfully his.” The elderly man said as he placed a hand on Barroth’s shoulder. “Rise.” he commanded “Train him well he is the last person we need to stop what is coming.” Barroth rose to his feet and bowed his head. “I will milord.” “I know, you have never failed me. I will come for you when the time is right.” the elderly man said before he vanished in to a cloud of ash. A large howl echoed off in the distance, It is good to be home.
