Weeks passed. Harry was aging fast. He was almost 10 by the time Christmas break reared it's head.
Malfoy's mother's funeral was to be held during break for Draco's convenience. After all, Lucius was right about on thing. Draco was the last Malfoy left. Sure they had family like the Blacks and the Weaslys but no other Malfoys.
After Draco received the owl with the information about the date, he sat down in the common room. Harry was playing with some toy trucks Hermione had transfigured for him.
Pansy noticed Draco's down mood. "So?" She asked. Draco gave her a questioning glance. "Did you get a date? You have tell us so we when to show up." Pansy said.
Draco, catching on, shook his head. "No. You don't need to come. " he said. "You should spend Christmas with your our families." Blaize shook his head. "No can do mate. We are not letting you go through this alone. Besides, you are our family. You've always been like a brother to me." Pansy nodded and stood up. "Me too. That's why I had to break up with you." This made some people chuckle. Ron stood up too. "Draco. We are family. Mum would not be about to let you go through this alone either, even if we still hated each other." Draco chuckled lightly at that. Everyone stood up and Hermione spoke. "You're our friend and family. We'd never let you go through this alone."
Draco felt like he might cry again. Everyone kinda came in for a big, awkward hug when Harry piped up.
"Darco. Where are you going? I wanna come!"
Everone shifted nervously. What WAS the plan for Harry anyways? Draco had it under control though. He knelt down to meet Harry's eyes. "You will. You'll get to see my house during Christmas this year. But, I will have to leave you for a day. I have to do something that I don't want you to see okay?" Harry cocked his head to the side. "Why?" Draco thought for a moment. "It doesn't matter. But guess what. While I'm away, You'll get to play with Tiddily. You don't remember him yet, but you where friends with a house elf named dobby once. He passed away, but Toddily and him where best friends. She could tell you stories about their advertures, okay?" Harry lit up at the idea, completely missing the 'dead friend' part.
Draco stood up to meet his friends stares. They were SO teasing him.
"Sheesh. You're gonna turn into his dad or something." Neville said. Draco's face scrunched. "No way is that ever gonna happen."
Blaize nodded. "Actually, I have to agree with Neville on this one mate." He said. Draco shrugged and shook his head. "No. Not a father figure. I mean, Harry is, was, and always will be a confusing git." The Gryffindors nodded agreeingly. "But still, I guess when you learn somethings about him, other things tend to fall into place. But that doesn't mean he'd ever think of me as a father figure. That's just weird." Pansy and Blaize shrugged and nodded while the others looked a little confused. Except for Luna. She just smiled knowing.
Her eyes cuaght Draco's, sending a shiver down his spine like she could see into his soul somehow. I swear, that woman is a mini Dumbldore. He thought.
Draco returned his attention to Harry and clapped his hands, acidently making the boy flinch. "Oops, sorry. Time to get your pajamas on." He said. Harry whined in protest. "Now." Was his only all Draco said in responce.
"But Draco, their too small again!" He whined some more. This surprised Draco. They had just gone down to London last week to get him new one's and weren't due to go again until end of this week. "Really?" Harry nodded. After a moment, Draco sighed. Alright, I'll see what I can find." Harry lit up again. "Yay! Thank you!"
As Harry got dressed into one of Draco's shirts, the blonde stared up into nothing. He was completely lost in thought. "So, what are you thinking about?" Harry asked, climbing into his own bed. Now that he was older, Draco wanted Harry to start sleeping alone.
Draco sighed. "My mom. I miss her." Harry let out a sigh as well. "I understand that. I miss my mom too." Draco sat to and gave Harry a questioning look. "How? I mean, you never really even knew your mom." Harry shrugged. "I don't know. I just miss her. I used to half this dream where we all sat and the dinner table and ate food. My mom and dad were talking. I don't know what about, but I always liked that dream. It makes me feel close to them. Maybe you'll have a dream about your mom tonight." Harry had said. Draco just smiled smally at the boy. "Thanks. Why don't you go to sleep? We've got school tomorrow."
After they both went to sleep, Draco found himself in a dark forest. It was the same dream he'd had since that night. He was walking, or was he running? No, now he was just standing lost. He looked around, calling out for someone. Anyone. When he turned to see hos mothers mangled body lying on the ground. Blood was everywhere. It stained the ground and the trees in blotchy madness. No! He cried. A manic laughter filled the air, but Draco couldn't see anyone. He looked and looked, but no one was around. Still, the sound was so loud in his ears. Out of no where a figure started to flicker into veiw behind his mothers body. He couldn't make out who it was visually because their figure was litterally flickering in and out of view. Still, even without a proper visual, Draco knew it was his father when he spoke. "YOu mIss YOuR mOtHeR DRAcO? YOu wANt tO see HeR AgAIN? wANNA HOlD HeR HAND? HAHAHAHA!!! HEHHEHAHHAHEHEHEHA!!!!" Dranged laughter filled the air and suddenly a severed hand in Draco's hands. He screamed and dropped it. The next second he looked up to see his father holding a knife, ready to stab him.
Draco woke with a start. The room was dark, he reached for his wand to cast a tempus. Then he found he couldn't move.
Draco looked at his arm confused, only to see a sleeping Harry attached to it. He stared for a moment before just accepting it and going to sleep. Having someone with him was oddly comforting. Still he wished it was the grown Harry Potter he- WAIT! NO HE DIDN'T! Shut up! ///>//o//<///
Draco quickly went back to sleep, trying to avoid finishing that thought.
