A cream-colored wolf laid under a stone, her neck sore from the radio collar rubbing against her skin. She nuzzled into her bed yawning quietly. "Hey kid, get up. It's time to go." a voice said, nudging into the small female. The cream female yawned, sitting up in slight annoyance. "Morning Milky Way." the other wolf said, stepping away. "Good morning Sun." Milky Way said, walking towards the other.
The two wolves sat by a metal fence, waiting for their meal to arrive. They saw a small human walk up, smiling at them. They said a greeting to the wolves, but it wasn't understood. Another booming voice yelled at the small creature, running up to it. The two humans fought for a little, but the taller one showed concern and worry. Milky Way tilted her head, wishing to understand the gesture. The other wolf simply stood there, waiting for the taller being to empty the metal pale that they were swinging around.
At last, the human dumped the metal pale out for the wolves, meat pouring out of it. Milky Way and Sun ate their meal, not leaving anything behind. "Ever wonder what they're saying?" Milky Way asked, looking over at the light yellow male. "No. I do what they want, I don't get the whip. That's all." Sun replied, licking his jaw. Milky Way sighed, looking away from the fellow canine.
Her eyes wandered the world around her, frowning slightly. She had been here for a few years now, but she would never get over the loss of her home. She whimpered at the thought, laying her head down in sadness. Her ear twitched to the sound of footsteps and voices, making her look over at it. She saw a new wolf get dragged in. She barked loudly, yelling at the people and yanking at the tendril around her neck.
"Newcomer?" Sun said, walking to the fence. Milky Way followed, nodding her head. "Yeah. She's still feral." the creamy female muttered, her voice quiet. Sun watched as the female got dragged into a pen, and thrown in, a gasp for breath escaping her. Milky Way took notice and growled, barking at the human, watching him glare at her. She growled at the looked and snarled.
Sun shoved her away growling. "Are you flea-brained?!" he snarled, growling at her. "He choked her!!" Milky Way yowled, growling at Sun. Sun growled, and lunged at her, claws glistening in the light. Milky Way hunched up, awaiting the impact of the larger male. Luckily, two humans grabbed Sun, restraining him from Milky Way. She looked out at the metal doorway, seeing it open. She ran to it and heard humans yelling. Everyone thought she was leaving, but instead, she ran to the new wolf.
She smashed the gate shut behind her, growling at the humans who almost caught her. The wolf looked at her, growling in fear and defense. "I won't hurt you.." Milky Way said, her voice soft and welcoming. The black wolf growled at her, shaking in fear. "WHO ARE YOU?!" she yowled, glaring at Milky Way. Milky Way stepped closer, earning another growl. She sat down and smiled. "I'm Milky Way. I've been here for a few years. Where are you from?" she replied, smiling at the other. "You seem really happy to be trapped here in these..what even are these things?!" the other snarled, looking at the fences. "They're fences. Metal ones. And I don't like being trapped here." Milky Way said, looking at her. "I miss my home. I miss running around, and being free." she continued, sighing.
"You had the chance to go just now..why didn't you?" the other asked, looking at Milky Way with a softer, yet alert expression. "Because I wanted to make sure you were okay." Milky Way responded, smiling at her. "...My name is Clare...I'm not full wolf.," she said, looking at Milky Way. "What are you then? Wolfdog?" Milky Way asked, looking at Clare. Her response was a nod. "Well, get rest. Newcomers get to rest for a day or two depending on their condition. So, take it while you have it." Milky Way said, laying down in the shade.
Clare limped over to her, laying a few tail-lengths away. It wasn't long till she fell asleep, leaving Milky Way to watch the humans.
