Chapter 5
“That was amazing Jinx!” Kuroi exclaimed as the two left the classroom to go towards the cafeteria.
Jinx yawned and stretched in reply while rolling his eyes at the mans enthusiasm.
I should really stop all the late night gaming, he thought.
“It’s not that hard, I basically just think about what I would want. I don't wanna play tag with a mailman or be paid $9.50 an hour as a career job instead of something part-time while still being with your parents.”
“Still! Most people don't think about that sort of thing, so you definitely have what it takes to be in a higher management position in a company.”
He just shrugged my shoulders and grabbed a Mt. Dew out of his locker. Taking a sip, he leaned against his locker and took in the cafeteria.
He watched as jocks started to comb the area looking for a fresh victim to tear apart, whether some wimp to beat up or woman to conquer.
These kinds of people disgusted me. Jinx looked over at Kuroi who was, OF COURSE looking at him and understood where he was coming from when it came to not wanting to talk to any of the people here.
He watched as one of the jocks broke apart from the group and strode towards the two.
Jinx recognized him as one of the few who hadn't tried to challenge him yet.
Jinx took another swig of soda as the guy stopped in front of him with a growing evil grin on his face.
“Oy, why the hell is the new kid following you around?” He snarled.
He swirled his soda bottle.
“I dont know?”
The jock looked startled at his answer.
“Why are you following him around?” The jock looked at Kuroi.
“.....Why not?” He replied.
Jinx couldn't help himself, he snorted and his head bobbed down a bit.
He made his face straight again and looked back up at the jock just to see his fist flying at his face. he quickly let his body slide across his locker to dodge the fist as it banged into his locker.
Jinx took another sip of his soda as he was leaning to the side, holding himself up entirely by pushing against his neighbor’s locker with his back.
“Oh? Did someone get offended?” Jinx watched as his face twisted in pain because he punched a slab of metal.
He drew his fist back and Jinx saw him move his body in a way that signaled that he was trying to knock him over with his leg.
He lifted my leg up long enough to dodge his swipe and brought it down to smash on his foot without looking away from the jock’s face. The jock let out a shriek and bounced back away from him.
He saw behind the boy in front of him, the other jocks were looking at him in pity. They all had tried to mess with him in the past and had failed.
Jinx straightened to lean against his locker again, and took a long sip of soda once more. The jock hobbled back to his group muttering to himself.
Kuroi looked at Jinx with wide eyes.
“Well that was dramatic.” Jinx sighed.
“.....Are you not going to eat Jinx?” Kuroi asked as he leaned on the locker next to his.
“.....I’m not very hungry.” Jinx lied.
Jinx didn't have money in his lunch account so he couldn't buy anything. He would have to ask his mother or use his part-time job’s money to buy food later.
His stomach panged slightly but he ignored his body’s anger at his inability to provide for it.
He was more focused on the fact that basically, the entire student body was staring at him, well not him but Kuroi who was right next to him.
It bothered him that everyone was looking at Kuroi, but the man himself was looking at Jinx rather than his adoring audience.
How could he handle this amount of people staring at him like this? Jinx thought in annoyance.
The eyes on him were already starting to infuriate Jinx and yet Kuroi was acting like it was just another day while trying to stare holes into him.
Jinx took another swig of soda and he saw out of the corner of his eye, Kuroi’s head bobbed to watch his movements. It unnerved him how much he was paying attention to him since he literally only met the man today.
“I mentioned before Kuroi, take a picture, it lasts longer.” Jinx sighed.
Jinx looked at him, Kuroi blinked at his sudden movements and straightened up. It seems he was slowly starting to lean over closer to Jinx unintentionally.
“What about you? Are you not going to eat?” He jerked his head at the cafeteria’s line.
“.....Nothing they have interests me.”
“Oh? Not used to not getting caviar and sparkling juice at every meal?” Jinx joked.
Kuroi looked at him unamused.
“I said they have nothing appetizing to me, though there's other things around here that are.” He smirked at me.
“You better not be looking at me while making that remark.” I quipped.
“I am not on the menu! But for the record….” Jinx’s voice dropped down an octave.
“I would be the one devouring.” Jinx hissed while he watched as Kuroi’s eyes widened and he seemed to be ready to fall over.
Jinx walked off towards the library as he heard the sound of Kuroi going to his knees with a huff.
He couldn't help but grin and took another drink of his soda.
